<![CDATA[Why is Carol Slezak even employed? She writes about once a week and never does any actual reporting, never actually talks to a subject, just steals quotes off the internet and adds empty-headed sermonizing. She's an embarrassment to women in journalism who have to do real work and not just coast as tokens.

<![CDATA[Regarding Mitchell's story-"Conceding that Wade's safety "apparently was never threatened," she nevertheless fashions it into a treatise on 'the city's ability to guard a foreign head of state' rather than what strikes me as the matter at hand -- the anguish of Senegalese journalists." Well said- though I'd also add that perhaps the real story might be what brilliant mind decided to book Wade at that particular conference in the first place. His idea to require journalists in his country to acquire licenses smacks of a neat and tidy method by which to wield state-sanctioned censorship power. (Or am I being too much of a conspiracy theorist here?)
Thank you for keeping the eagle eye.
