- we don't know the length of day at those
- we don't know what major cities we will continue to compare ourselves with
- we don't know which major city has longest day, which has shortest day, and how successful are the students at those cities
- we CAN conclude no research was done, otherwise they'd happily have brandished it long ago.
So it's like Meigs Field: just bulldoze it in the middle of the night and we don't need no stinkin' studies.

I'm not the one who is so concerned about the exact particulars of the length of the school day when compared with other districts that I'm willing to spend a great deal of time looking for and through data to get the exact numbers. I know that CPS had a relatively short school day compared to other districts, both in the Chicago area and across the nation.

Your second paragraph of that post is utterly ridiculous. Finding out the length of the school day in other school districts around the country is not the slightest bit of a problem.

So, no matter which side of the fence one is on (longer day better vs shorter day better), these documents showing the actual comparisons and calculations with other cities would be a big help and would clear the air!
