I was really looking forward to Grace based on my past experiences with Duffy's cooking when he ran Avenues at the Peninsula, but I must agree that the food at Grace was dull and forgettable. Not that it was bad—just not worth the money and nowhere near the ambition to be one of the great restaurants of the world..

And before anyone else questions "foodie" credentials: yes, I've been to most of what people consider the best restaurants in the world and I grew up working with some pretty well-known chefs.

My wife and I dined at Grace this past weekend and had a wonderful experience. The place is gorgeous and the chairs that we sat in were made for an extended dining period and were most comfortable.

Today's chefs must cringe to know that they are all some type of imitation of Charlie Trotter.
