      <![CDATA[Agree that this was a poor example of journalism and a thinly veiled bitch piece on behalf of the artists that didn't make the cut. By having all submissions put up for a vote, it would become more of a family/friends popularity contest than any real assessment of the quality of the work.<br>

I expect better work from The Reader.

      <![CDATA[The sham is that by throwing a little"mural bone" to his constituents, the alderman attempted to throw a smoke screen up to cover his inability to address the real issues in Rogers Park: rampant crime, daily gang violence, open air drug markets, slum landlords and pay offs from local developers.<br>
<br>
It's similar to Joe's sharp criticism that Mayor Daley makes Chicago "look pretty" to cover up the fact that our city is in a real crisis when it comes to finances, crime, etc.<br>
