Within the context of SGI, people help each other re-frame issues so that -- in the short term -- we can look beyond the problem to the strength that we know we get by overcoming the problem. It's a way to generate the optimism necessary to slog away at the difficulty and get to the other side.
That way of thinking about things helped me get through a very tough divorce.
And the people that remind you to think that way are the best kind of friends!
