Bernard is an accomplished artist in his own right. To accuse him of cheating, after he clearly states he has done nothing wrong, and dropping him out of the ALO, some of the comments I'm reading are slanderous.
Back up and think for a minute, he is in major collections, McCormick Place for one, published in Art Journals, mural publications, featured in ArtSlant, a featured artist for Chicago Artists Month, he has won numerous awards for his work, has pubic art murals all around Chicago, and installations nationally as well as locally. He has more integrity than to step out, and "cheat", on a scale like this, to jeopardize his career, yes the pot of money is large, is it that he is a favorite to win, that someone would create a disqualification scandal?
I have received several self promotions from other artist in the ALO, sending me down to vote on their art using social media. I think that Bernard should start talking to the director of the CAC, since she knows some what of the law. By, the way isn't the CAC suppose to be in the practice of supporting artist not destroying there artistic integrity, deprivation of their character, and what about the exploitation of artist in this whole process.
Good things have happened in the Loop since Pop UP, this doesn't denote the whole movement, Chicago has joined the bandwagon in a major commitment to the visual arts, while spending State Street SSA (Special Service Area) Funding to do so. I question how much tinkles down to the masses, that support ALO, CAC, and CLA. I also question what is perceived to be a conflict of interest for CAC Board-members to participate in the ALO, even though they were not on the jury, membership participation is one thing, but to be on the board and be in the middle of conflict is another., which Bernard is neither.
