Although Julius Hemphill came to fame in Saint Louis he was originally from Fort Worth, Texas-- went to the same High School that produced Ornette, Dewey Redman, John Carter, Charles Moffett and Prince Lascha.

Enjoyed your post Peter. I remember my first Black Saint well--String Trio of New York's Area Code 212. You couldn't get 'em in Texas back then, I had to order it from North Country Distributors.
