Re: “Is this painting an early work by celebrated artist Peter Doig?

Update: A case has been filed in federal court seeking damages against Doig and his dealer for interfering in a proposed sale of the painting. Doig cannot simply deny the story and must address the sworn statement of Fletcher and provide details of his activities during the period of his alleged incarceration.

Re: “Is this painting an early work by celebrated artist Peter Doig?

Unfortunately, records are not easily obtained. When the subject perhaps realized his arrest was forthcoming, he merely added an "e" to his name with a typewriter. Back then ID's were typed. Like Lance Armstrong, avoiding exposure for so long has emboldened him. He has not provided a shred of supporting material and seems to think he will wake up from a bad dream. The guy who got busted with enough acid to warrant prison is the same guy who forged high school transcripts by his admission.
One does not turn truthfulness on and off.

See Janice Harper's article on the subject in Huffington Post. Read the comments. Doig comments and loses credibility.

To comment no.1: could be some truth in that.
To comment no.3: Nice try, Pete! Having an acid flashback, are we?
