No Broadway-style bombast here. Jonathan Larson's masterwork is deeply personal in David Walters and Brian LaDuca's homespun, richly grounded NightBlue revival. Though powerfully sung, their staging puts the characters before the power ballads. And the story, which can play like a self-righteous manifesto for misunderstood artists, becomes a look at a tangle of beleaguered friends whose passions trick them out of love as much as into it. What can seem simultaneously half-baked and overcooked in bigger productions comes off here—and in Puccini's original--as a chronicle of young dreamers storming life and, at every turn, finding themselves astonished by unexpected discoveries. --Lawrence Bommer

Rent was one of the best small venue shows we've seen in a long time. The actors who played Mark, Roger, Tom Collins, Joanne & Maureen were outstanding. In fact, the actor that played Mark, was as good as Anthony Rapp and played the part with more honesty.

Kudos to Night Blue and Directors David Walters and Brian LaDuca for giving the audiance the honor to see such a good show and bringing forward some new talent that we will all hear about in the future.

The best show that i have seen in ages (and I see a lot of shows!). It was played with an honesty and open heart that is rare these days. The cast was outstanding, all shining, but none over-shining the rest.

I can't recommend this show enough!
