Dead parents meddle from the afterlife, engineering a graveside meet-cute between a cannibal florist and a high-strung doctor, in this leaden comedy from Hobo Junction. Having promised to explore the "etiology of love," writer Josh Zagoren instead offers light pedantries that come across as souvenirs of a Wikipedia safari. His intent is clear enough: a smart, dark fairy tale in the vein of Tim Burton. But the execution falls short, with gags and idiosyncratic characters cluttering the stage. Mike Tepeli's performance as the nervously cute Dr. Garrish nearly redeems the show, though, and his geek-love stage chemistry with Madeline Chilese sweeps aside the play's overwrought elements in their few shared scenes. --Keith Griffith
