The Message Is in the Music

In Jackie Taylor's latest jukebox musical, Lucifer and his minions invade heaven's sateen-bedecked throne room to pick a fight that will ultimately threaten the destruction of the universe. The weapons of choice: pop, R & B, gospel, and folk songs--27 of them, many having little to do with the matter at hand. There's also room for some theology. We learn that demons can be redeemed, that God has a woman, that gettin' busy plays a role in salvation, and that the Almighty is a big Curtis Mayfield fan. The show is a heartfelt, hilarious, slightly heretical, completely crazy, hugely entertaining mess. Maybe you can resist a finale featuring angels and reformed demons singing Barry White, but I can't. --Zac Thompson

The message is in the music was a good show. It brought out laughter where laughter was supposed to be brought out and it also brought tears in some spots. The reality is that humor can be brought out in any form no matter who or what. I loved the show and I will go and see it again before it leaves.
