This variety show from Mo Roses Productions combines two disreputable old-timey entertainments: burlesque and the circus sideshow. Between magic tricks, a contortionist act, and a fire-eating demonstration, half a dozen women--including Coo d’Twat, whose name would make a drag queen envious--take turns removing their saucy, clever costumes to the accompaniment of a live brass band. Lula Houp Garou manages to keep a hula hoop going while stripping down to panties and pasties. There's also some patriotic bunting to justify the title and a stern schoolmistress type to serve as emcee. Sounds like fun, sure--but much of the sideshow stuff is tedious filler, and too many of the strippers lack the necessary panache, so enjoyment comes in fits and starts. --Zac Thompson
