Miles Raymer
Bio:
I've been writing the
Reader's music column since 2006. During my time here I've written about
obscure niche music scenes,
garage pop enfants terrible,
locally grown dance sensations, and
fellow former Michiganders who are equally obsessed with dance music and rockāand on top of that
somehow managed to piss off both sides of the debate over Odd Future. Before that I was a freelance writer here, and my work's also appeared in
Vice,
Fader,
NME,
Utne Reader,
Hit It Or Quit It, and
XXL. In 2011 I wrote
How to Analyze the Music of Paul McCartney, an introduction to critical theory aimed at young readers and published as part of ABDO Publishing's Essential Critiques series. When I'm not writing about music I'm playing it with the rock band Mannequin Men.
