My favorite quote from that "Blagojevich invites people to record him at Republic Windows protest" YouTube clip is when he says, "And those who feel like they want to sneakily and wear -- you know -- taping devices, I would remind them that it kind of smells like Nixon and Watergate."

Why not just do it the same old Chicago way it's always done: ask Mayor Daley and Mike Madigan to pick their favorite relavite or loyal supporter.

Isn't that what the Chicago Political Machine (now exported to DC) is all about?

Seriously though, this would be a great opportunity for a clean break from politics as usual, by the usual suspects.

What's wrong with a special election? Open it up to all people, not just Da Mayor's people.

It's time for a representative government, by the people, for the people. It's time to ditch the two party system (or one party system in Cook County), and open up public office to real people who actually want to represent their constituents, instead of just lining their pockets, setting up a huge pension, and advancing their "careers" in politics. Illinois can set a great example now, by breaking with the old Daley system.

Poliical office about public service, about representing people and doing what's best for the voters, not like the politicians are doing now.

Re: Blago's quote, "smells like Nixon and Watergate"

Does that mean it goes all the way up to the top, to the president? Was the Great hOpe in on it too?

He and his yet to be named advisor (is it Emmanuel or Axelrod) are certainly acting guilty, evasive and doing a lot of "damage control," though, they are part of the Chicago political machine, so by default, they're presumed guilty of something (or they wouldn't have been allowed admission to that infamous good old boy network).

Impeach him. You have him on tape, you have all you need. Shouldn't take over an hour. Impeach quick and move on.

The public needs to hear all the fbi tapes, so we can decide whats the truth, and if he is being impeached for cause.
The focus needs to be on the judges that give permission for invading someone's privicy. It should only be done as a last resort, not just to make it easy for law enforcement, law enforcement should use this only as a last resort, they should be able to make cases without breaking people's constitution rights.
