Peter Gallagher and Hershey Felder coming to Drury Lane Water Tower Place

Posted by Albert Williams on Wed, Jul 29, 2009 at 9:47 AM

Peter Gallagher will perform his new one-man show, Peter Gallagher: Don't Give Up on Me, at Chicago's Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place November 22-December 14. The 53-year-old actor-singer—known for his work on Broadway (Guys and Dolls), screen (Sex, Lies and Videotape, American Beauty), and TV (The O.C.)—will reminisce about his "apprenticeships" with such legendary stars as James Cagney, Jack Lemmon, Peter O’Toole, and, yes, Stubby Kaye. The stories will be punctuated with his renditions of songs by Frank Loesser, Rodgers and Hart, Burt Bacharach, Leon Russell, and others.

Presented by producer-performer Hershey Felder, the show will play for six performances only, on Sundays and Mondays, prior to a national tour. Felder—an actor and pianist whose solo shows about Gershwin and Chopin played here at the Royal George Theatre a few years back—will also be performing at Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place November 13-December 31. He'll rotate his George Gershwin Alone and Monsieur Chopin with a piece new to Chicago—Beethoven, As I Knew Him—before celebrating a New Year's Eve with The Great American Song Book Sing-A-Long.

Tickets for the Felder and Gallagher shows go on sale on Friday, July 31, at Drury Lane Water Theatre Tower Place and Ticketmaster.
