It's starting to get surreal, even for Chicago.
On Thursday, Mayor Daley's Olympic planners announced that they'd negotiated "a long-awaited deal with community groups on contracting opportunities, jobs and affordable housing," as Crain's put it.
They made it seem like the end point of a tough negotiations in which competing interests forged compromise on common ground.
Please.
The deal was ostensibly struck between Chicago 2016, the organization Mayor Daley put together to oversee the games, and the Outreach Advisory Council, a group put together by Chicago 2016. Think of it as Mayor Daley negotiating with himself.
The co-chair of the council is Michael Scott. That would the same Michael Scott who's been a Daley ally since the early 80s. He's currently serving his second stint as the mayor's handpicked school board president. He's also served as the mayor's handpicked president of the Park District board.
The other council co-chair is Terry Peterson, who was Daley's campaign manager in the 2007 election. Before that Peterson was Daley's CEO of the Chicago Housing Authority.
Also praising the deal was Juan Rangel, another council member. He's the CEO of the United Neighborhood Organization, which has contracts with the Chicago Public Schools (run by Daley) to manage eight charter schools in the city.
I realize Daley's allies will praise Daley's plans. But don't be foolish enough to believe this represents an independent affirmation of the Olympics. Winning support from Scott, Peterson, and Rangel is like calling a press conference to announce that Maggie Daley has endorsed the Olympics.
Actually, Maggie might drive a harder bargain.

The city is one huge on-going criminal conspiracy and the Mayor and the city council should be RICO'd.
Daley's wisdom in bringing the Olympics to Chicago will pay dividends to every community long after the games have left town. We should all be grateful to have a leader of such great vision as we do in Chicago.
Hey US Attorney Fitzgerald, don't delay...RICO Daley today!
Daley, his corrupt son Patrick and nephew Vanecko are all 3 bungling idiots who stole from Chicagos poor residents and will now go to prison. Hey Daley, don't drop the soap!
Mayor Daley and his sweet phony smiling wife are crooks! Sue me Daley, I want to deposition you and bring you down, you crook!
I hope Daley doesn't get this jewel in his crooked crown. I'll laugh when the IOC awards this to somebody else. If Adolph Hitler rises from the dead and runs against Daley... I'll vote for Hitler! ANYBODY but Daley. Hey King Richie... go sit on a parking meter!
Daley and his rat pack are doing what rat packs do. Their collective motto is 'Where's mine?', followed by 'And how can I get it?'. What separates the rats from the rest of human society is that the rat packs have only one rule of thumb which they live by: 'There are no rules, only means to an end.', aka 'Whatever works. (for me and mine)'. Totally left out of the rat pack's calculations are the desires and best interests of the folks who actually pay for all of their schemes and scams, ie., the working, and thus, taxpaying citizens, aka 'the suckers'. As for the citizens consistently being fooled, keep an eye on what happens during the week that the IOC is in town. Even the Daley controlled, talking head and dead tree media won't be able to totally suppress the news of what is actually going to happen.
Isn't Juanita Rangel the sell out for UNO who had a failing school and now gets more. UNO and Juanita Rangel are uncle tom coconuts. They are corrupt jokes.
Terry Peterson, I'm waiting for you to tell me to come out of the closet? The Mayor does not talk to me anymore. i have set my people back 20 years for him. help me terry!
Are you tired of the Olympic spin games Chicagoans? I don't wanna play hide and seek with my tax dollars! Vote out the losers at city hall in the next mayoral elections and move the city forward. I believe the mayor is a talking head for developers and this is a way to get real estate projects off the ground in a otherwise depressed property market. The country was in a real estate bubble and Chicago wants to create a double bubble. WOW!
"Another Daley scam March 12th - 7:05 a.m. The 2016 Committee is lying to you. Here are their 5 big lies (1 for each ring)... 1. The games create jobs. We know that some jobs would be created from over $2 billion in bloated construction projects. But we want jobs that will benefit ALL Chicago and that will build Chicago for the future - not for a party that lasts three weeks. The trades in Vancouver were promised great jobs and then found out that those construction jobs were given to low-paid workers brought in from abroad! 2. The games make money. The games are a huge sink holes for their host cities. Vancouver is on the verge of bankruptcy and the London games are almost $9 billion over budget. Remember, the Mayor loves to use your money for his pet projects and they always go WAY over budget. Can you say "Soldier Field"? Or "Millennium Park"? Folks, the federal government is broke. The state is $9 billion in the red. The county budget is a joke. The city is over $460 million in the hole. How can we afford over $890 million in stadium construction and all the other costs that we know is involved? The city of Montreal hosted the 1976 summer games and they JUST paid off their debts in 2006! 3. The games bring civic pride. The 2106 boosters say they want to make Chicago a "world class" city. We ARE a great city. What would make us better would be all our kids getting a world class education and all our citizens getting world class health care. Real pride comes from a world class transit system, decent housing for all and a police force that respected human rights, not abused them. Realize that the Olympic Games bring a mini-police state with them and civil rights are curtailed and the homeless are swept away to avoid unpleasant TV images. Ask the folks in Atlanta or Vancouver, where poverty was and is being criminalized. 4. The games are green. That's a laugh. Most of the venues in Chicago are slated for public parks which will be torn up and paved over to accommodate stadiums and support facilities and then mostly torn down. A 20,000 seat tennis venue is supposed to be built in the shadow of the Jarvis Bird Sanctuary in Lincoln Park at a cost of $31 million. The Park District is laying off hundreds of workers now and they can't pick up the trash or clean the bathrooms - so does it make any sense to spend our money on a tennis stadium that will destroy the bird sanctuary and then be torn down? It's the same or worse in Douglas Park, Jackson Park and Grant Park. 5. The games will benefit neighborhoods. Despite what some neighbors have been told, you will NOT benefit from the Olympics. You won't get a job. Your business will not reap huge profits. If you live near an Olympic venue you WILL see your property taxes go up. If your home is in the way of a needed venue site - you will be forced to sell and move. If you are part of an effort to extract some goodies from the city in return for your organization's support for the games, you are being duped. Who is the agreement with? Who will enforce this agreement? Have you had good luck with the city's other promises? How is the city's overall record with regard to the rule of law and accountability? Don't be fooled by threats or bribes. The games will not help our neighborhoods. They WILL help gentrify them. They WILL bleed them of needed funds and they WILL push people out. THE ONE SAD TRUTH... They play. You pay. The Olympic Games will bankrupt the city of Chicago and YOU will pay the bills. HELP US FIGHT THE SCAM! The 2016 Committee has raised about $50 million to sell this scam to the public. They will probably spend a total of $100 million before the International Olympic Committee renders it's decision in October of this year. Big business, banks, construction companies. consulting firms, wealthy individuals and even Chicago's major foundations have all contributed millions. But it's going to be OUR MONEY that will fuel this boondoggle. The City Council has already pledged $500 million to support the games. The state is likely to pledge the same. The city also said it will pay for security - the security costs for Vancouver are already at $1 billion! So it will take YOUR MONEY NOW to stop this monumental rip-off that is COMING!" & "The Truth Hurts March 17th - 3:02 p.m. This olympics scheme has 3 goals: 1. Push low and no income minorities out of the city. 2. Re-inflate the real estate balloon, using the dirt cheap properties formerly owned by those displaced minorities. 3. Finance the above via the taxpayers dollars. The many lucrative contracts directly connected to the olympics will be pocket change, compared to the fortunes to be made, if this scheme succeeds in eliminating a substantial portion of this city's low and no income population. Those currently members of the low and no income minority groups will have limited options under this scheme. If they are owners of real property, they will either be forced to sell, cheaply, under the eminent domain powers the city will impose upon them, if their real property is within the areas targeted, or, if their property is located outside of said targeted areas, they will be leveraged to sell, with the use of building code violations and increased property taxes as the stick and/or market forces increasing the offered price for their property as the carrot. In any case, they, the minority owners of real property, will, if this scheme is successful, no longer be residing within the city limits. Daley and his crew have never liked having to kiss the minorities' asses and have been trying to come up with an effective way to significantly reduce the number of resident minorities for some time. This olympics scheme is what they've determined to be the one most likely to achieve that goal. As for those minorities not owning real property, well, if they want to remain residents of this city, they're just shit out of luck. After all, section 8 housing is everywhere now, in practically every suburb within cook county and even the surrounding counties. There will be a small percentage of minority members who'll be capable of lifting themselves out of their low and no income status, even though many minority members fail to recognize, acknowledge or avail themselves of the opportunities to become capable. This small percentage will be tolerable to those who, as a rule, do not want any minorities living within the city, just as long as said minorities are no longer a political threat at election time. So, when you read posted comments touting the olympics, understand that those pushing this scheme truly believe that they are working to improve the future of this city, via the displacement of most all of the minority population which they consider to be the main source of most all of the city's problems. Even those opposed to the daley machine will have a difficult time proving them wrong."
An article from the SCC blog: "Saturday, March 8, 2009 Put Up or Shut Up http://www.chicagofop.org/Current_Updates.html Quite possibly the most important event that will happen in many of our careers: * The Lodge has been backed into a corner and will participate in informational picketing on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 11:00 am. The First Amendment to the United States Constitution assures all citizens the free exercise of the freedom of speech, assembly, and the right to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Persons on the public way have a right to express their views and beliefs orally or through the use of signs. These protections apply to our members exercise of their First Amendment Rights as long as they act in a law abiding manner. While we aren't completely happy with the timing and the admission by the FOP President that the Olympic Committee won't be around to observe and enjoy the festivities, it's what we have at the moment and the moment must be seized. Go to the link. Print out the attached flyer. http://www.chicagofop.org/Updates/2009/attachments... If you're off, show up. If you're out of court, swing by, especially anyone with a 9am call at Traffic Court - you're already downtown. If you can get time, burn the day. Anything less than full buses will rightly be seen as a failure." A few comments from said article: "A couple of things concerning Thursdayâs informational picketing for what theyâre worth. I was assigned in 001 for several years and have been assigned to well over 100 of these types of actions so I know a few things about them but itâs ultimately up to you. First, if youâre not going to make it, no more posts about 'hey my brothers and sisters in blue I canât make it becauseâ¦but Iâm with you in spirit'. Either youâre with us or against us, PERIOD! I know some people have to work that day, including those that will be assigned to the event, but you have nothing to say about the event unless youâre going to be there. Second, no guns, donât get jammed up over this. I canât fathom anyone actually getting pinched but it could lead to a C.R., why give the department any ammo. It is against the law to have a gun at any picket line. I donât have the statute handy but you can find it. Third, it is not us against the people assigned to the event so donât get caught up in the moment and fault the officers and supervisors that are assigned to it, even those you canât stand. Also, there could be counter-demonstrators that will try to disrupt the event. They are the responsibility of the people assigned to the event, donât get trapped into any type of discussion, debate, etc⦠it will be taped by them and it will be edited in a manner that makes you look like a buffoon. Fourth, common sense here, there will be cameras everywhere and Iâm sure even in use by the department and/or other city and government agencies. Donât do or say anything that will distract from the true meaning of this event. The city utilizes cameras at almost all demonstrations now and to not use them here would open the door for huge legal ramifications. There will bee all kinds of rumors between now and Thursday and attempts to divide us, donât let it happen. I havenât heard anything from any of the PBPA units yet, but I hope they get on board. I am a member of one of them and will be there whether or not they officially sanction this action. I canât wait to see the turnout, those that were there in 2000 should remember what a great turnout we had then, enough to circle the hall. Bring friends and family, the more the merrier. Anything small in numbers and we may as well grab our ankles. P.S. Circle April 15th on your calendar for the Chicago Tea Party. 3/28/2009 06:18:00 AM" & "This is our chance. You guys that come here and bitch and moan while hiding behind a keyboard, now's the time to come out of the closet and do something. There should be THOUSANDS od Officers at this. And it shouldn't stop at City Hall. We should have buses on standby following the IOC wherever they go. Day and night. FOP, don't let this be a one hour picket line. Schedule times and locations for Officers to picket from 0800-2200. Let the IOC and the world see how daley treats the city's employees. Let them know that if they chose Chicago and Daley doesn't start negotiating fairly, that the Police will not be there when the time comes. We should have informational picketing at the hotels where the IOC will be staying, at City Hall, at the various locations that they will be inspecting. We should become their shadows. FOP, Officers, this is our chance. Don't fuck it up! 3/28/2009 06:52:00 AM" & "Well, this is what we've been insisting upon, so now let's back up all of the tough talk with a little action. I'm scheduled to work but have put in for time due so I can participate. I cannot continue to complain about the Supt, the crook, Mayor Daley, or the F O P, and then not take the time to show up for such an important event at such a critical time. We are paying more for benefits and getting less in return. Our pension funds have tanked, and they are threatening to overhaul or switch to a two-tier pension. Officers are at risk due to manpower shortages, and despite what were being told/sold, clout still rules the chicago police department. In fact, Daley has already placed his civilians puppets in place so he can control a department he knows nothing about. It's working great so far don't you think? O'keefe, Ladner, Masters, these people don't have a clue, paper pushers running a quasi Military organization. I am sick of the corruption in this city, this county, this state. I am sick of the Democratic Machine, Pay to Play, and the blatant disregard by the Inspector General, Patrick Fitzgerald, and all those charged with overseeing this mess. Everyone gets a piece of the pie to keep them quite, Jessie, the reverend, Hispanic Democratic Org., the Alderman, everyone. I don't want a piece of the pie, I want what is fair, I want what was promised to me when I came on the job. I don't want to join their elite club, I want a fair contract with a reasonable cost of living increase not offset by benefit cost increases. I don't want to be meritoriously promoted into the upper eschelon of kiss asses, I just want an equal opportunity to move up in salary to care for my family and our needs. I'm sorry, I could go on and on but I will spare you the rest. All this to say I will be there April 2nd, walking beside my co-workers who are not afraid to stand up for what is right. 3/28/2009 08:42:00 AM" & "Maybe the FOP can print up some flyers to be handed out to passing citizens about the recent news stories of the Mayors nephew stealing from the police pension fund, or the city losing the comp time ruling, but ignoring the judges orders, a paragraph to remind everyone every city union but the police has received a contract with good raises, a little mention of the alderman voting themselves and their staffs nice raises, the news stories about how Mayor Daley broke the law in hiring JFRAUD (he was not one of the 3 finalists chosen by the police board as the law requires) a copy of the ethics ordinance and that mayor Daley ignores it and does not list all the gifts he is given or the free air travel he receives. Maybe a quick mention of how merit promotions are made and that the city refuses to define what merit is. Maybe a few examples of merit Ald carothers brother's two merit promotions come to mind. Inform the citizens of Chicago and we will get some to join our cause, (some will hate us no matter what, forget about them and ignore them) 3/28/2009 11:15:00 AM" & "I wasn't going to go to the picketing because I had a lot on my schedule, but, 1st Deputy/Asst Supt? JIMMY JACKSON came to my roll call and threatened all of us about going to the protest. I was so turned off by his empty threats that I have cleared my whole schedule for the day and I WILL DEFINITELY BE IN ATTENDANCE ON APRIL 2nd. JPUD and his band of exempt, 1/2 civilian nitwits are really scared about this protest. I think if we show our numbers it will be the final blow and maybe we will get the contract we deserve. 3/28/2009 11:43:00 AM" & "we have been told that the mayor wants NO BUMS BEGGING FOR CHANGE while the olympic committee is in town. He wants zero tolerance. I will do my part to be sure not ONE bum is arrested. I am NOT making the mayor look good. Not to mention this should be considered extremely disrespectful to our citizens LIVING here. He doesn't care about you any other week, only when he is showing off to the olympic committee! WAKE UP CHICAGO and MARCH WITH US 3/28/2009 12:00:00 PM" & "please, no profanity, vulgarity on picket signs, keep it professional. Call attention to the discrimination of CPD officers regarding fair and Timely Contracts, City Hall Corruption gone UNCHECKED, and the Daley Crime Cabal not being able to explain why so many tax dollars are unaccounted for, when Police Officers are not being hired at a rate even close to make up for the attrition rate of the Department. 3/28/2009 12:46:00 PM" & "SCC Here's a thought... what about the Gold Star families joining us if they possibly could..... we still have the posters of all of our brothers and sisters killed in the line of duty right??? Lets 'remind' our political 'leaders' what we give every day to protect this city and their jobs.... These bloodsuckers don't care about anything but their votes... lets remind them where the votes come from and let me tell you.... seeing those pictures of our fallen heroes will make a HUGE impact to the general public walking around in the loop to their offices.... WE WILL NEVER FORGET!!! and I am sure if our brothers and sisters were here today they would want to be at city hall next week!!! I'll Be there!!!! Let's Do this!!!! UNITE 3/28/2009 01:30:00 PM" & "Remember, the Daley Crime Cabal has placed our Brothers and Sisters in more danger than necessary, due to their phony hiring practices. He should be held accountable for where every PENNY of Taxpayers money allotted to Police Hiring has gone for the past several years. Remember, do your best to show up for ANY informational Picketing, even if just for an hour. NOW is the time to show our strength in Numbers. No more SLAIN Police Officers due to lack of manpower, proper training, equipment, etc. We all owe it to our Slain Brothers and Sisters.... 3/28/2009 02:07:00 PM" & "The City of Chicago doesn't care about the 2nd Amendment, lol, now let's see how much they care about the 1st. Anyway, I'm still betting the over. It's gonna get crowded out there. 3/28/2009 03:01:00 PM" & "If you have your chalkie tee shirts this will be a good day to wear them. 3/28/2009 04:07:00 PM" Okay, Ben and Mick, here's your chance to help bring about that 'Change We Can Believe In'. Will the Chicago Reader take a stand?
....because the first ammendment protects their right to be jagoffs.
Coconutty?????????, And his Pink police force?????????.
I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often. Joannah http://windscreensite.com
From the comments section of the SCC blog: "Erin Martorano said... Off Topic: To Our Police Friends and Family - My name is Erin Martorano. My husband, Joe Martorano, has worked for the Chicago Police Department for ten years. This past November, our four year old daughter, Sara, was diagnosed with cancer. Cancer has no boundaries. Cancer loves to invade every aspect of your life. It is the eternal support of family and friends that is keeping our family afloat in a cancerous sea of good and bad 'moments'. April 5th, our friends held the Saints for Sara benefit. I'm writing this letter in response to my emotions from this heart warming get together. The Chicago Police presence was overwhelming. I appreciate your smiles, your looks of concern, your well wishes, your nods, your hugs, your generosity, your jokes, your cheers, your personalities. That's one thing the Chicago Police Department is not short of...... unique personalities! I'm a girl who was born and bred in the suburbs of Chicago. I am not from a police family. Marrying Joe and his job has been quite an experience. Being a Chicago Police officer is a lifestyle. It is not a job choice. It is a chosen life of leaving your family and going to work with a gun and bullet-proof vest. Every day you choose to put yourself in dangerous and unpredictable situations. Unlike other professions, even when you're off duty, you are still a police officer. You are still expected to 'do the job'. You are expected to keep the city and it's people safe, while having a smile on your face and only nice things to say. You are expected to use your gun at a moments notice to save your life or the life of someone else... and with those same hands, you hold your wife or husband and tuck your kid into bed at night. What is expected of you and your family is extreme. You still do it. If you are not one of us, you do not understand. You are Chicago Police officers. You do not let one of your own, walk alone. Since our daughter, Sara was diagnosed with cancer, you have not left our family's side. We know a lot of you personally, some... we know your name, some... we know what district you work in, some... we just know you are the police. Thank you for support, friendship, prayers and laughs throughout of family's cancer journey. Much gratitude and thanks, Erin Martorano 4/07/2009 08:36:00 PM" And cops are held in contempt by the contemptuous fucks ruining our city.
More tasty tidbits from the comments section of: http://secondcitycop.blogspot.com/ "Think small, be small. You want to get the Mayors and alderthieves attention? Threaten them with their jobs. Let it be known that the police are serious about circulating petitions to bring a term limit referendum for alderman and the mayor on the next election ballot. Also that we are serious about fighting residency all the way to the supreme court. 4/08/2009 08:56:00 AM" & "Dear Mayor Daley: About your being an ass, I have a question to ask you--can you name the mayor of Atlanta back in 1996? You know, the year they had the Olympics? Didn't think so. No one knows or cares. More folks remember Richard Jewell, the mope security guard falsely accused of setting off a small IED. Anyway, my point is that even if the 2016 games come to Chicago, they will not be your legacy. Your legacy will be numerous murder victims, high crime rates, lousy public services, high taxes, 'X'ing out Meigs Field, hired trucks, meaningless gun control laws, selling off our city's future, and, in general, ruining the standard of living here, while lining your pockets and those of your cronies. These, not the Olympics, are the games which will be your legacy. 4/08/2009 09:16:00 AM" & "Daley is an Ass Like this is News!?!? WE have known this for years, and this ASS keeps getting elected. Every time he runs for re-election, a black hater candidate runs. Then a second black vote-splitting candidate pops up and Shortshanks wins. Don't tell me that second candidate is NOT somehow put up by Daley minions under the table. But the true measure of this Evil Little Man's Character came out some years ago in an interview in the Sun-Times, when it ran a series in the Sunday editions where the readers would write in questions for famous people. The second in the series was Richard M. Daley. It was during contract negotiations and after the city council voted the mayor and themselves hefty raises. One of the questions was, 'How can the mayor get a 35% pay raise and the aldermen get a 30% pay raise and you only offer the firefighters and police officers a 2 ½ % pay raise.' The mayorâs response, 'I am the mayor of a great city and the aldermen are the legislators of a great city. I am very proud of the salary that I make. If this guy or anyone else doesnât like what we are offering he can quit. We had 40,000 sign up to take the firefighters test and he can be easily replaced.' This is what we are up against, the mentality of that man with the mean little man. 4/08/2009 09:21:00 AM" & "Yes, but Daley has a problem that Boston does not have. He has HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of $$$$$ put to the side for his pet project, The Olympics. He also has Millions in TIF money put to the side. He cannot cry broke to an arbitrator with this money on the books. He will cry there is no money, but the fact is he has openly admitted he has 500 Million still sitting on the side from the Chicago Skyway sale. 4/08/2009 12:05:00 PM" & "First Responders, CPD & CFD, need to do more. We need to unite our groups. We need to involve everyone, Police, Firefighters, Medics. White shirts of all ranks as well. The First responders in Chicago are being left behind by 'shortshanks', it's almost as if he doesn't have any respect for us or the jobs we perform everyday, making his City safe. He has no clue as to what we do for a living and would rather continue with his corrupt ways in doing business with his cronies than give us a fair wage and benefits. Why can't we enjoy the same pension and medical benefits the aldercreatures enjoy. Why does he constantly rush to appease his new found 'base of voters' and forget those who helped make the Daleys look good all these years. Time has come we spoke up for ourselves! We need to continue speaking out! 4/08/2009 12:35:00 PM" & "If the city is so broke, it needs to start cutting expenses. It is planning to waste even more money on the Olympics, so obviously the city cannot really be broke. 4/08/2009 01:38:00 PM" & "Did anyone see who ShitShanks was sitting with at the Sox game yesterday? He was hanging out with his buddy, Father Phleger and another guy who looked suspiciously close to Reverend Meeks. This idiot has GOT to go, that's all there is to it. You could run a rubber chicken against ShitShanks and the chicken would have a decent chance this time around. Can't we find just ONE decent candidate to take this guy out? Suggestions?? SCC... this needs a thread of it's own. It's not too early to start planning on this. Let's see if we can find a candidate to draft for a run against ShitShanks. If we eliminate Daley, the rest of his sheep followers will be rendered powerless. C'mon.... LET'S GET IT ON!!! 4/08/2009 01:45:00 PM" & "maybe our next march in front of city hall should have even a bigger turn out. our signs that we'll be holding should tell the public the Real Truths about what goes on in this city, how the police department is continuously shit on and about all the waisted spending that Daley does. Our mayor is so corrupt it put Al Capone to shame. 4/08/2009 02:34:00 PM" & "Chalkie paid a visit in 006 today and another one in 007 might be claimed by Mr. Chalk. Mr. 10th Ward Alderman Pope. Have you driven around in your ward lately. Never in my entire life have I seen the city streets this horrific with pot holes, craters and sink holes. WTF !!!!!!!! While I'm bitching, drive around for 2-4 hours and I'll bet you never see a single squad car. Obviously, you have no problem with that, but I sure as hell do. Do something already. Typical Daley Cronie (the apple doesn't fall far from the tree). 4/08/2009 02:42:00 PM" & "Lick-A-Dick Daley strikes again. He always has an excuse for his actions being justified like a little child who does wrong, but claims that he didn't and that it's someone else's fault.. it's always SOMEONE ELSE'S FAULT WITH HIM. He is supposed to be responsible for the City's employees for several years in advance, as far as making the proper projections for allocating a reasonable pay raise for police, fire, teachers, Streets and San, etc; he knows how long their contracts are. This man-child takes advantage of the fact that we have a no-strike clause somewhere in our Contract. He never subjects the Teachers, Streets and San, etc., to this type of treatment, all for his own Greedy intentions. Why don't we just get an Arbitrator already, FOP? What's the sense of wasting any more time with this mental and physical midget? OR perhaps you are in cahoots with Mayor Shortshanks, as you never seem to do much until the rank and file are breathing down your necks, at their angriest, then you act a bit, and only enough to appease temporarily.. It was SCC, and the rank and file, who put together the Highly Successful Picketing, NOT FOP, they just jumped on the band-wagon like the fence-sitters that they are, after the frustration was so obvious. I wish we could get the FireFighters Union, and make it the Firefighter/Police Union, all in one. Time to put up or shut up FOP; your games are at end. We are watching and videoing. 4/08/2009 04:47:00 PM" & "I don't know if I'm the poster you're referring to but I did make a comment about Daley rescinding the closing of mental health clinics. The mental health clinics in Chicago are a joke. The majority of their mentally ill clients don't take their medications or don't even show up for their appointments. If they do, it's only because their SSI 'disability' (if you can call drug and alcohol dependence a disability) payments will be held up or they won't get their kids back. Then they go once or twice and you don't see them again for another six months until someone threatens to hold back on their money that comes from all of us---taxpayers. I was upset because I thought, here are Chicago's finest, our police department, who serve and protects, and Daley plays games with them but caves into pressure from a handful of people that sat outside his office. Let me ask you, do you think the police would be allowed to have a sit in on the fifth floor? No, they wouldn't. Someone put them up to it and with Daley's blessing. It's all an act, orchestrated by the usual suspects and paid for by us. And yesterday, when I saw Father Pfleger sitting next to Daley in the bleachers, it all became very clear. The more I read this blog, the clearer it becomes. That people do not vote and did not get out and vote yesterday makes me sick. These lazy bastards who fill the ballot boxes are smarter than decent working class people who sit home on their ass complaining about who's in charge, because, they know not to bite the hand that feeds them. God forbid they have to REALLY work for a living like the rest of the working stiffs. God forbid their phone call gets disconnected or they fall out of favor of the dick they suck day in and day out. I watch it all from a distance and it is fucking sickening, human nature at it's absolute worst. Parasites living off the backs of the taxpayers. I cannot even imagine what that must feel like because anything I ever wanted, I worked for. All the rules I was raised with don't apply anymore. It's all about something for nothing. Sorry for the rant. Just my two cents. 4/08/2009 05:07:00 PM" And some people say that cops are dumb.
