News / Chicagoland Obama locks up the Latvian-American vote

That Patti Solis-Doyle is Obama's new TBD-veep-candidate aide might be a sign that his choice is Hillary, or it could just mean clout is thicker than water (or track records). But my favorite little detail in this list of new Obama hires is Michael Strautmanis, a senior aide and a Latvian-African-American. His father, Juris, was a member of ÄŒikÄgas piecÄ«ši, or the Chicago Five, a beloved, long-running Latvian-American pop group. You can listen to them here, though I'm not sure if the elder Strautmanis is in this particular incarnation of the group.

This does not lock up any latvian vote. In fact this will not change anything. Obama thinks acts and talks like a socialist.
He has to be kidding..Obama maybe "locked up" 2 Latvian votes.
I'm a Latvian for Obama. Iwas born on a ship fleeing the Communists and spent the first five years of my life on a Latvian DP camp in Memmingen, Germany. Go Obama!
He's locked up at least 4 latvian american votes in my family alone and i am working on the rest. Go Obama!

Laima, I'd write this in Latvian but then others wouldn't understand it, so let's stay in English except for one word: KAUNS! This means "shame on you." Shame on you for not understanding, after all these years, that the only way to keep this country great is to encourage exactly the kind of open minded discourse promoted by Obama and the "radical liberals" you mock so intolerantly. It's clear that you still don't understand that in the USA, "loyal" means supporting our open democracy. And lighten up ... the Cold War is OVER!

My Latvian family are proud supporters of Obama - Howard University, an historically black college, was one of a few to accept women dentist and physician dps in their programs in the 1950s. My dad was rescued by four African American GIs and he always told me that the expression "melns ka velns" was wrong - that those four men were angels. Turies, Obama!
Michael Strautmanis may not be Lavian at all but a plain African American... and who cares? He's just, and has always been, the right man at the right place, faithful to his friends and Obama.
LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER PAYBACK TO ME. I AGREE WITH THE WRITER WHO SAYS OBAMA IS A DESTROYER NOT A UNITER. OUR COUNTRY IS IN DEEP TROUBLE!
