A time to lose and a time to lose

Posted by Mick Dumke on Mon, Feb 25, 2008 at 9:10 PM

There is, says the preacher, a time to break down and a time to build up, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance.... But somehow the Cook County Republican Party has only been doing the first part of these for a loooong time.

Let's put it this way: Are you interested in being the party's nominee for, say, Cook County Circuit Court clerk? How about recorder of deeds? Water reclamation district commissioner? Board of review?

Here's what you get when you go to the party's Web site:

Candidate Recruitment for 2008

We are pleased to announce that our Slating Committee is prepared to go to work under the leadership of Barrington Township Committeeman Eugene Dawson. This Committee will focus on finding credible and experienced Republicans to form a slate of countywide candidates. Offices that are up for nomination on the February 5, 2008 primary include:

State's Attorney
Recorder of Deeds
Clerk of the Circuit Court
Board of Review - District 2
Board of Review - District 3
Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (3 Commissioners)

If you wish to submit your credentials for consideration of the Slating Committee, please send them to jamie@cookrepublicanparty.com, with attention to Hon. Eugene Dawson.

Obviously, the site is out of date--we're way past the primary. But the only one of these offices with a primary candidate was state's attorney, which Tony Peraica has basically been running for since he lost the bitter 2006 contest for county board president. And from what I've heard from Republican committeemen, the party's about as together as this looks. As one of them put it: "Of course it's got no energy or organization."

But it does have Hawk Harrelson

In fairness to the Republicans, Illinois election law does permit them to fill those slots at this time via a weighted vote of their committeemen. The fact that they failed to have anyone file to run for these positions in the primary is legally irrelevant. The fact that any candidate that is put up by the Republicans is going to get trounced is also irrelevant. The law gives the Republicans another chance to put up a bunch of sacrificial lambs. That's all there is to it.

What is most revealing about the absence of Republican challengers is the utter lack of respect for Democracy their inactions represents. If there is little chance of victory, the Republicans decide 'not to play'. Just like the Lottery, if you don't buy a ticket, you can't win. Period. This shows us, once again, how impotent and irrelevant these two political parties are, at least to the publics' interest in having a Democracy in the truest sense of the word. These dinosaurs of politics are still acting as if it's the 1950's. In some ways it is, in some ways it is not. What I'd like to see is a flood of candidates, party affiliated or not, for every elected office, in every election. Put up a web site, collect the required signatures, plus 100% above that number, just to make the Democratic controlled election board work to deny you access, post your positions on the issues relevant to the office you're seeking and see if you hit the 'election lottery'. With the way the few citizens who vote actually vote these days, your odds of winning have never been better. And for the Republicans to fail to avail themselves of the anti-Incumbent climate being stoked by the Daley's, Stroger's, Madigan's, Blago's and the rest of the Democratic Criminal Party of Thieves, is just silly.

"Now we have a hack, Chicago-style Daley politician who is picturing himself as change. When he gets done with you, all you're going to have in your pocket is change," Cunningham said as the audience laughed. The comments were directed towards Obama during a McCain rally in Cincinnati by a right-wing radio creep. But if Cook County Republicans were worth a damn they'd be hammering that message over & over about Daley.

Why would they do that to the business 'friendly' Daley? Oh yeah, not every Republican is a wealthy business owner. Only the Republican Party's 'leadership' are wealthy business owners. Fact is, both 'traditional' political parties, (read parties of entrenched political hacks), are obsolete. They have been obsolete for several decades now. Their only functions have decayed into: 1. Bullshit the voting public into reelecting their chosen hacks. 2. Discourage most citizens from voting and even from registering to vote. 3. Eliminate any authentic and viable challengers, through their misuse of the election boards. 4. Maximize the amount of taxes taken from the citizens. 5. Maximize the number of bought and paid for whores, either through patronage jobs, bloated contracts or a combination of the two. 6. Avoid honesty like the poison it is to these professional liars. 7. Maintain the status quo, while they're building their own wealth, scammed from the hard earned incomes of the working citizens. Their collective motto: Greed is Goooooooood!

Calculate the ratio of whatever 'patronage' sins can be attributed to Tony Peraica and the same concerning the Crook County Criminal Enterprise known as the Crook County Democratic Stealing Machine. I rest my case. Peraica as our next Cook County State's Attorney. Turn the Pit Bull loose on the Rodents.

Re: 10:38 You don't have to suffer alone with your affliction. There is help out there, you can go to any of the Counties excellent Clinics and hospitals as evidenced by the many citations in the media and independent reviews. There, you can avail yourself of the specialized counseling services and if necessary they can review your current medications and prescribe treatments and medicines that will make you feel better about yourself with out the anger and anxieties of going out into the public. These clinics are conveniently located through out the county and we can refer you to the nearest counseling center on public transportation or door to door service if you qualify. Everyone here wants to help you get better.

From PUBLIC POLICY CAUCUS The Cook County Board will vote this afternoon on President Todd Stroger’s sales tax increase. This is the latest in an unending effort to fund the waste, cronyism, nepotism and corruption in the county government. The unmitigated gall of Stroger is well established. You should need no long list of “talking points” to know just how wrong and destructive this tax increase is. These are the types of irresponsible policies that destroyed the economic base of Detroit and at one time put New York in to bankruptcy. Here are the commissioners who will either bend to Stroger’s schemes, or stand up for the people of Cook County. Please take a moment to make a quick tall to each of them, and register your opposition. William Beavers (312-603-2067) Jerry Butler (312-603-6391) Earlean Collins (312-603-4566) John Daley (312-603-4400) Joseph Mario Moreno (312-603-5443) Joan Patricia Murphy (312-603-4216) Deborah Sims (312-603-6381) Robert Steele (312-603-3019)

Hence We wish to expose once more in a brief synthesis the principles of atheistic Communism as they are manifested chiefly in Bolshevism. We wish also to indicate its method of action and to contrast with its false principles the clear doctrine of the Church, in order to inculcate anew and with greater insistence the means by which the Christian civilization, the true civitas humana, can be saved from the satanic scourge, and not merely saved, but better developed for the well-being of human society. The Communism of today, more emphatically than similar movements in the past, conceals in itself a false messianic idea. A pseudo-ideal of justice, of equality and fraternity in labor impregnates all its doctrine and activity with a deceptive mysticism, which communicates a zealous and contagious enthusiasm to the multitudes entrapped by delusive promises. This is especially true in an age like ours, when unusual misery has resulted from the unequal distribution of the goods of this world. This pseudo-ideal is even boastfully advanced as if it were responsible for a certain economic progress. As a matter of fact, when such progress is at all real, its true causes are quite different, as for instance the intensification of industrialism in countries which were formerly almost without it, the exploitation of immense natural resources, and the use of the most brutal methods to insure the achievement of gigantic projects with a minimum of expense. The doctrine of modern Communism, which is often concealed under the most seductive trappings, is in substance based on the principles of dialectical and historical materialism previously advocated by Marx, of which the theoricians of bolshevism claim to possess the only genuine interpretation. According to this doctrine there is in the world only one reality, matter, the blind forces of which evolve into plant, animal and man. Even human society is nothing but a phenomenon and form of matter, evolving in the same way. By a law of inexorable necessity and through a perpetual conflict of forces, matter moves towards the final synthesis of a classless society. In such a doctrine, as is evident, there is no room for the idea of God; there is no difference between matter and spirit, between soul and body; there is neither survival of the soul after death nor any hope in a future life. Insisting on the dialectical aspect of their materialism, the Communists claim that the conflict which carries the world towards its final synthesis can be accelerated by man. Hence they endeavor to sharpen the antagonisms which arise between the various classes of society. Thus the class struggle with its consequent violent hate and destruction takes on the aspects of a crusade for the progress of humanity. On the other hand, all other forces whatever, as long as they resist such systematic violence, must be annihilated as hostile to the human race. Communism, moreover, strips man of his liberty, robs human personality of all its dignity, and removes all the moral restraints that check the eruptions of blind impulse. There is no recognition of any right of the individual in his relations to the collectivity; no natural right is accorded to human personality, which is a mere cog-wheel in the Communist system. In man's relations with other individuals, besides, Communists hold the principle of absolute equality, rejecting all hierarchy and divinely-constituted authority, including the authority of parents. What men call authority and subordination is derived from the community as its first and only font. Nor is the individual granted any property rights over material goods or the means of production, for inasmuch as these are the source of further wealth, their possession would give one man power over another. Precisely on this score, all forms of private property must be eradicated, for they are at the origin of all economic enslavement . Refusing to human life any sacred or spiritual character, such a doctrine logically makes of marriage and the family a purely artificial and civil institution, the outcome of a specific economic system. There exists no matrimonial bond of a juridico-moral nature that is not subject to the whim of the individual or of the collectivity. Naturally, therefore, the notion of an indissoluble marriage-tie is scouted. Communism is particularly characterized by the rejection of any link that binds woman to the family and the home, and her emancipation is proclaimed as a basic principle. She is withdrawn from the family and the care of her children, to be thrust instead into public life and collective production under the same conditions as man. The care of home and children then devolves upon the collectivity. Finally, the right of education is denied to parents, for it is conceived as the exclusive prerogative of the community, in whose name and by whose mandate alone parents may exercise this right.

Since you've chosen to cut and paste over 3 articles, I'll respond in kind. Freedom, of thought, of choice, of action, or inaction, inherently requires responsibility to respect the quid pro quo. Live and Let Live. Freedom inherently includes the potential of conflict. Resolution of conflict requires mutual respect. And willingness to compromise. Dictators, whether man or man pretending to represent God, rarely tolerate compromise. They prefer to dictate, that's why they're called dictators. Dictators also prefer those they dictate to, and, thus, rule over, to think less and comply more. Not Freedom, by any definition.
