Some of the winners and losers from yesterday’s primaries were obvious, others not as much. Here are a few we’ve noticed:
Winner: Sandi Jackson. She routed longtime Seventh Ward boss William Beavers by winning nearly three-quarters of the votes cast in their committeeman showdown—not a year after beating his daughter, Darcel, for alderman.
Loser: Jesse Jackson Jr. Sandi’s husband lost the other two races he got involved in: his friend Kenny Johnson fell to Will Burns in the 26th state rep contest while Larry Suffredin finished third in the Democratic campaign for state’s attorney. Maybe Sandi’s the legitimate mayoral threat from the Jackson family.
Winners: Incumbent water reclamation district commissioners. All three held on, turning back aggressive, big-spending challengers.
Losers: District taxpayers, who foot the bills for commissioner Cynthia Santos's art history and fiction writing classes.
Winners: Moms running as law-and-order candidates. Anita Alvarez’s brilliant TV commercial showing her getting her kids ready for school—with one calling out, “Come on, Mom!”—was one reason she won the state’s attorney primary.
Losers: Dads running as law-and-order candidates. None of Alvarez’s five opponents could figure out how to avoid looking or sounding like men prone to bickering about football and gun prosecutions.
Winners: Latino voters. For years, the political mantra has been “They're a growing community, they're going to be huge, but right now they don’t vote.” Clearly lots do, and they helped hand victories to Alvarez, Board of Review commissioner Joe Berrios, state senator Iris Martinez, water rec commissioner Frank Avila, and Cynthia Santos, who isn’t actually a Latina. And, of course, to a bunch of non-Latino candidates.
Losers: Latino pols who backed the white guys in these races. In the words of one Latino committeeman who endorsed somebody other than Alvarez: “She beat the fuck out of me on that one.”
Winners: Tom Allen, Howard Brookins Jr., and Ed Smith. By losing their countywide races, these three aldermen have been freed to become the voices of independence and change they campaigned as. Or they can settle into their jobs and sign off on mayoral initiatives in return for alley repaving and stop signs.
Losers: Any aldermen contemplating higher office. The title carries about as much positive feeling as "foot infection."
Winners: Anyone who ignores preelection polls and predictions in favor of the responsible thing: closing your eyes, putting your finger on the ballot, and voting for whatever name it lands on.
Losers: Political reporters who actually think they know enough about hundreds of thousands of voters to make preelection predictions.... Well, at least I got Obama right.
Showing 1-62 of 62
Ralph C. Capparelli 4,294 34.91% Mary O'Connor 5,566 45.26% Patricia A. Mulligan 924 7.51% Frank Coconate 1,515 12.32% The results were expected, send Frank to Peraica now, to lose the election for him.
"Losers: Political reporters who actually think they know enough about hundreds of thousands of voters to make preelection predictions.... Well, at least I got Obama right." Yep, stick to spitting into the wind. Prognosticating is not your forte (but neither is insightful writing, but who cares, really ?)
that elected her. the hispanic turnout was still anemic.
We both would like to thank Frank Coconate for his support. Frank Coconate objective in the mostly Irish mostly Conservitive 41st ward, was to pay Ralph Capparelli back for not supporting Democratic Candidates. Your correct, the results were expected, especially from Frank Coconate! But your wrong about him supporting Peraica. Please don't count Coconate out yet.
The male State's Attorney's candidates spent their time cutting each other to shreds and Ms. Alvarez strolled down the center to victory. A look at the results down through subcircuit Judicial races show that women were the deciding factors in many of these races.
No Hispanics on any liberal palm cards on the lakefront.
So, if women are to now be the deciding factor, do women have the financial sense to realize the source of most of their family's financial burdens, that source being the many pickpockets infesting our city and county governments and taxing us up our proverbial asses? And do women have enough sense to see the value in HAVE NO DOUBT, VOTE INCUMBENTS OUT, at least concerning the male incumbents? Fascinating.
Hispanics won't be underestimated again. They DO Vote. Other groups will vote for Hispanics. The racists in the Democratic party were taught a lesson.
The anti-Hispanic racist Jesse Jackson Jr will NEVER be Mayor. There is an audio tape of Jesse Jackson Jr calling Hispanics bad things, white people lemon heads, and Italians scungili head.
When is Victor Reyes going to jail? MARTINEZ AVILA
Sandy Jackson should divorce Jesse James Jackson Jr.?
The party helped the latina by having an open primary. Alerez will continue the aggressive programs of Dick Devine. Alarez will not get in the way of party business. Arrest the Gangbangers, and the Ghetto trash, but leave the politicans alone. I don't care about a few Latinos getting jobs in your office, even if most are not qualified. All spoils should go to the winners, not the whinners. We must protect our Mayor,so that he can be free to create jobs and opportunities for the rest of us. Alarez can obtain most of the 11th and 19th votes.
How long must we be tortured by this inbred creep?
If Alverez was trained by Dick Devine she is okay.
Losers: Voters who used the 'Magic Pen'. http://morsehellhole.blogspot.com/2008/02/she-went-ahead-and-voted-anyway.html
"How long must we be tortured by this inbred creep?" As long as we continue to reelect their sperm donors. HAVE NO DOUBT, VOTE INCUMBENTS OUT ps: It's the price we pay for open blogging. On the bright side, they all seem willing to express themselves as they are, not as the less imbecilic want us to perceive them to be, so, accept their imbecility as a gift, one uniquely suited to doing the exact opposite of what they intend it to do. I prefer to have a piece of shit smell like a piece of shit, rather than try to smell like a fragrant flower.
Big boobs beat big balls in the 7th.
I was trained by Daley and looked how great I turned out!
Memo to sitting aldermen: If you have any ambition, GET OUT NOW! Don't wait! Resign today! Every month you stay in office you do nothing except add to your documented record as a mindless sycophantic bench-warming career politician. If you resign at least you may be able to campaign on recognizing that Chicago's legislature is dysfunctional beyond your ability to repair.
Losers: lobbyists slash elected representatives I wonder if Fritchey takes any lesson from the arc of Suffredin's campaign.
"Alarez will not get in the way of party business ... but leave the politicans alone." She was already making excuses during her campaign. In the televised debate she explained that the State's Attorney's office does not have the resources to pursue public corruption, it's best left to the feds.
"....she explained that the State's Attorney's office does not have the resources to pursue public corruption, it's best left to the feds." What resources are needed, Anita? Fucking public corruption is everywhere. You can't take a step in any direction without getting your shoes covered in the shit. It's like a friggin' minefield of corruption. Just the leads garnered from blog postings are a goldmine of information. What use is the County State's Attorney's office, if the public leaders of our city and county are given a free pass on committing crimes? Because, that's what a statement like this one is saying, concerning our public officials, don't even get into jail, let alone 'get out of jail free', pass GO and feel free to commit any discrete criminal acts of fraud you please. Peraica's gonna have to avoid the temptation to over simplify this issue, in his campaign for the State's Attorney's office, as, while HE thoroughly understands the details, the voting public cannot be expected to be so well informed. Ben and Mick's efforts on elucidating many of the quasi legal schemes, employed by the many criminal enterprise participants, is a start, but Peraica has to do the work necessary to patiently, and clearly, explain how much all this accepted as normal activity is costing the taxpayer/voter. Peraica cannot depend upon the voting public learning much of anything from the major news media, whether print, broadcast or Internet, though the Chicago Reader has led the pack on clearly and thoroughly sharing the details those of criminal bent don't want anyone to understand, or even be aware of. He also cannot descend into the morass of petty name-calling, nor disgust the voting public with partisan political party pandering. If Peraica can manage to communicate the truths about the widespread nature of corruption, city and county specific, and show how the honest application of the authorities vested in the County State's Attorney's office can be utilized to greatly diminish the extent and pervasiveness of said corruption, what response can Alverez have? Besides blatantly lying about her past inactions and her present commitment to continue her past inactions? Contrary to the 'common wisdom', this contest is Peraica's to lose, not Alvarez's to win. Who ends up being elected our next Cook County State's Attorney will say more about us, the taxpaying voters, than it will about either candidate's campaigning efforts.
Hugh, Alvarez is correct about having no budget to pursue public corruption. Nor will she get such a budget any time soon from Cook County, which doesn't have enough money to properly provide health care. Nor should she get such a budget when the feds already have it, plus a working relationship with the FBI, plus highly-skilled prosecutors, and are doing just fine in punishing corruption. Why duplicate something that's working? The State's Attorney's primary job is to convict perpetrators of violent and property crimes.
"Nor will she get such a budget any time soon from Cook County, which doesn't have enough money to properly provide health care." looking the other way on prosecuting public corruption is WHY Cook Cty govt is a black hole
Cook County State's Attorney's Motto: "We will investigate NO public contract fraud until the LAST RAPIST in Cook County is safely behind bars!" ...so don't hold your breath
Winners: business as usual Losers: taxpayers
I am glad that the incumbents won.
My first place showing has encouraged me to run for higher office.
So, do you mean to say that the portion of our earned incomes we use to pay our taxes is not our property? And that our property being stolen from us, through the means of frauds committed, by our publicly elected officials, and those they hire and/or contract, isn't really our property to begin with? As in earned income amounts being deducted as taxes really can't be considered to be income we earn and that is our property, if only for a short period of time? As for "Why duplicate something that's working?", said statement referring to the 'accomplishments', to date, of the Federal Justice System, concerning 'public corruption', I suggest that you are either mistaken, or way too easy to please. Or maybe you are one of the many enjoying the lack of interest and effort, by the County State's Attorney, to investigate, indict, prosecute and, hopefully, convict those 'public servants' serving, not the publics', but their own interests. Or maybe you're just stupid. Say it ain't so, Joe.
He lost the election and now his website crashed....Some guys just can't get a break.
I don't think I'm particularly easy to please regarding the feds' performance prosecuting corruption, but I am highly satisfied with Fitzgerald's performance: Conviction of governor Ryan, staff and friends, ongoing investigation of governor Blagojevich, indictments of his fundraisers, around a hundred Hired Truck convictions, the Duff minority contract fraud convictions, the Sorich patronage conviction, Al Sanchez and other HDO indictments pending, resulting personnel shakeups in most City departments, the Vrdolyak and Levine indictments pending, the Maltese/Cicero convictions, 5 top level mobsters including Joey the Clown convicted, with enough time left over to convict Sun-Times officers Black and Radley and to go to Washington and convict Scooter Libby. Sorry if your favorite target is not listed. Only showhorses indict when they don't have the evidence to convict. Sounds like Peraica may be your man. Think he'll crack 30%?
" ... but I am highly satisfied with Fitzgerald's performance ... " compared to other recent US Attys, sure compared to what's out there? I dunno I think Fitzgerald would agree he is also resource constrained
Anita Alvarez did not win ALONE. Jim "Skinny" Sheehan and Tom "Tuna" Carey were the hidden advisors Sally Daly was the Press Secretary. Paul O'Grady was taking Anita Alvarez around.
"Sounds like Peraica may be your man." I'll be listening to the candidates' plans for prosecuting public corruption. I recognize it may be a issue of more importance to the contributors to this blog than with the general public. Do you think an Alverez campaign plank will be "public corruption not my job"? It might work in Cook County!
Look into how the contracts are awared in the MWRDGC. Look into the lobbying contracts of tax raising aldercrook Virginia Rugai's husband. 1515 in the pick four. You lose! Again.
I am sorry I gave money to Terry O'Brien and violated the contract. I got a good deal, I ran against Patty Young than got a job. The oral law test is a real joke. The State's Attorney should look into Obrien and O'Connor--they will not, they will not be political and good.
My name is Carey Capperelli. I am a loser. My dad wanted me to be state rep or commissioner but Silvestri and McAullife spanked my old mean dad. I have a no bid political contract at the MWRD. I should not have it. Let me race my car Vrooom Vroom My dad knew Don Stephens and helped with the Casino OMNI
Since you seem to be 'well informed', maybe you can refresh our memories on the answers to the following questions: "Conviction of governor Ryan, staff and friends...." How many individuals were indicted, prosecuted, were found or pled guilty, and were: 1. sentenced to a term of imprisonment and/or 2. assessed fines and/or 3. required to pay restitution Of those sentenced to a term of imprisonment, how long a term for each, and, at what cost to the taxpayers? Of those assessed fines, to whom were these fines to be paid? And how much? Of those required to pay restitution, to whom was restitution paid? And how much? Besides Ryan, were there any individuals of political significance indicted, convicted, fined and/or sentenced? Would you deem Ryan to be a person of political significance at the time of his indictment? How long did it take the 'feds' to interfere with the criminal activities relevant to these cases? As in, how long did these criminal activities continue to be engaged in, from their beginning to their presumed ending? "...ongoing investigation of governor Blagojevich, indictments of his fundraisers..." Is it your belief that the federal authorities have a better understanding of the workings of our local political criminal enterprises than our own prosecutorial 'representatives' of the people? As in our County State's Attorneys and our State Attorney General? Is it your belief that the federal government's department of justice is, essentially, an apolitical organization? Substantially free from political influences and/or agendas? And capable of actual honesty? "...around a hundred Hired Truck convictions..." How many individuals, specifically, were indicted, prosecuted, were found or pled guilty, and were: 1. sentenced to a term of imprisonment and/or 2. assessed fines and/or 3. required to pay restitution Of those sentenced to a term of imprisonment, how long a term for each, and, at what cost to the taxpayers? Of those assessed fines, to whom were these fines to be paid? And how much? Of those required to pay restitution, to whom was restitution paid? And how much? Is it your belief that there are no longer any activities being engaged in that are similar, or the same, as those criminal activities engaged in by the individuals involved in the aforementioned 'Hired Truck Scandal'? "...the Duff minority contract fraud convictions..." How many individuals, specifically, were indicted, prosecuted, were found or pled guilty, and were: 1. sentenced to a term of imprisonment and/or 2. assessed fines and/or 3. required to pay restitution Of those sentenced to a term of imprisonment, how long a term for each, and, at what cost to the taxpayers? Of those assessed fines, to whom were these fines to be paid? And how much? Of those required to pay restitution, to whom was restitution paid? And how much? Is it your belief that there are no longer any individuals currently engaged in the criminal activities involved in the aforementioned 'Minority Contact Frauds'? "...the Sorich patronage conviction..." How many individuals, specifically, were indicted, prosecuted, were found or pled guilty, and were: 1. sentenced to a term of imprisonment and/or 2. assessed fines and/or 3. required to pay restitution Of those sentenced to a term of imprisonment, how long a term for each, and, at what cost to the taxpayers? Of those assessed fines, to whom were these fines to be paid? And how much? Of those required to pay restitution, to whom was restitution paid? And how much? Is it your belief that there are no longer any individuals engaged in the criminal activities Sorich has been convicted of engaging in? Is it your belief that Sorich acted on his own initiative? Is it your belief that the conviction and sentencing of Sorich has resulted in the ending of the type of activities for which he was investigated, indicted, prosecuted, and convicted? Do you have knowledge of the amount of time Sorich engaged in these criminal activities? Do you have knowledge of the unnecessary costs imposed upon the taxpayers, as a result of said activities? Do you have knowledge of any other specific individuals engaging in activities similar to, or the same as, those Sorich was convicted of engaging in? Is it your belief that, were one to have said knowledge, one would be wasting one's time in bringing said knowledge to the attention of the County's State's Attorney's office? "....Al Sanchez and other HDO indictments pending..." Is it your belief that those 'alleged' criminal activities, engaged in by the above named, and unnamed, individuals are no longer being engaged in by any individuals not currently under indictment or under 'pending indictment'? "....resulting personnel shakeups in most City departments..." Is it your belief that these supposed 'personnel shakeups' have been intended to, and have resulted in, an ending to the criminal activities, which have been engaged in, in the recent 'past'? "...the Vrdolyak and Levine indictments pending..." Is it your belief that the activities 'allegedly' having been engaged in by Vrdolyak and Levine are not currently being engaged in by any other individuals, have not ever been engaged in by any other individuals in the past and, further, are, specifically, the only activities ever engaged in by the aforementioned Vrdolyak and Levine? "....the Maltese/Cicero convictions..." How many individuals, specifically, were indicted, prosecuted, were found or pled guilty, and were: 1. sentenced to a term of imprisonment and/or 2. assessed fines and/or 3. required to pay restitution Of those sentenced to a term of imprisonment, how long a term for each, and, at what cost to the taxpayers? Of those assessed fines, to whom were these fines to be paid? And how much? Of those required to pay restitution, to whom was restitution paid? And how much? Is it your belief that there are no longer any individuals engaged in similar activities in the suburb of Cicero? Or activities having the same, or more harmful, effects upon the citizen/taxpayers of Cicero? "....5 top level mobsters including Joey the Clown convicted..." How many individuals, specifically, were indicted, prosecuted, were found or pled guilty, and were: 1. sentenced to a term of imprisonment and/or 2. assessed fines and/or 3. required to pay restitution Of those sentenced to a term of imprisonment, how long a term for each, and, at what cost to the taxpayers? Of those assessed fines, to whom were these fines to be paid? And how much? Of those required to pay restitution, to whom was restitution paid? And how much? Is it your belief that, during the long period of time, between the occurrence of the activities and events that the aforementioned individuals were convicted of engaging in and the present, there were any significant efforts being made, by authorities, be they State or Federal, to investigate, indict and prosecute the many less egregious activities which were the source motivations of the most egregious activities? And, is it your belief that the State Authorities are incapable of engaging in any substantial efforts concerning the investigation, indictment and prosecution of public corruptions, of all kinds, as a given fact of life? And, thus, there is no need for them to bother attempting to do so? "...with enough time left over to convict Sun-Times officers Black and Radley...." How many individuals, specifically, were indicted, prosecuted, were found or pled guilty, and were: 1. sentenced to a term of imprisonment and/or 2. assessed fines and/or 3. required to pay restitution Of those sentenced to a term of imprisonment, how long a term for each, and, at what cost to the taxpayers? Of those assessed fines, to whom were these fines to be paid? And how much? Of those required to pay restitution, to whom was restitution paid? And how much? Who, precisely, were the victims of the criminal activities Black and Radley were convicted of engaging in? And what, specifically, was the harm imposed upon them? "...and to go to Washington and convict Scooter Libby." How many individuals, specifically, were indicted, prosecuted, were found or pled guilty, and were: 1. sentenced to a term of imprisonment and/or 2. assessed fines and/or 3. required to pay restitution Of those sentenced to a term of imprisonment, how long a term for each, and, at what cost to the taxpayers? Of those assessed fines, to whom were these fines to be paid? And how much? Of those required to pay restitution, to whom was restitution paid? And how much? Oh yeah, I remember. Scooter got himself a Bush Pardoning. And a fine amounting to pocket change to him. And a cushy new job, courtesy of the Bush administration, said administration being, for the present, in control of the US Justice Department you hold in such high esteem. So, Joe, waddaya know?
Jesse Jackson Jr is a black cat He lost all his races except but his selfish wife LOSERS: Larry the lobbyist Suffredin Kenny Johnson WILL BURNS ROCKS Maryanne Spyropolous with the global warming money she gave Jesse James--he should give it back Diane Jones lost big Dean Maragos lost big Judges State Reps Water Recs States Attorney Loser Jesse Jackson the black cat

Add to the list of losers the residents of most of the 40 wards that did not have a contested race for Democratic Ward Committeeman. Tops among those losers have to be the voters of the 49th Ward on the Far North Side. There under the plague of Committeeman Dave Fagus (working in tandem with that noted hypocrite and compulsive liar, Ald. Joe Moore), we saw a new low Tuesday with the invisible ink ballot scandal. Fagus and Moore are part of a political cancer that has spread across the north lakefront communities and into the adjacent suburbs. Other culprits in this cabal of hypocrisy include that notorious lobbyist/County Comm. Larry Suffredin and Cong. Jan Schakowsky and her felon husband Bob Creamer. I pray for the day that these scoundrels and their cohorts are brought to justice and/or finally are taken down by the will of enlightened voters, and that this day comes soon.
The elementary power of the masses, deftly managed and employed, the state also can utilize: in the ambitious hands of one or of several who have been artificially brought together for selfish aims, the state itself, with the support of the masses, reduced to the minimum status of a mere machine, can impose its whims on the better part of the real people: the common interest remains seriously, and for a long time, injured by this process, and the injury is very often hard to heal.
Before the body politic can heal, it first must be cleansed of the infections causing the diseased condition. As in the body biological, the body politic has the inherent means to eliminate said infectious organisms. The body biological has white blood cells. The body politic has their Right to Vote. As the white blood cells recognize, and eliminate those disease causing organisms, wherever they may be found within the body, so do the citizens have the opportunity to recognize, identify and eliminate those infectious organisms, within the body politic, commonly known as corrupted Incumbent office holders. HAVE NO DOUBT, VOTE INCUMBENTS OUT
"Turning and turning in the widening gyre The falcon cannot hear the falconer; Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity." --W.B. Yeats
Rich Remus could put Sheriff Michael Sheehan, Skinny Sheehan, Judge Ryan and the entire Alvarez campaign staff in jail.
My vote incumbents out lost big time, because most incumbents won!
I must learn how to vote for other parties too.
Perseverance, grasshopper, perseverance. And, it's not other parties, per se, it's simple ballot position, with the incumbent's name position as the primary reference factor. If this, then that. With the goal being to disallow the name designated as the incumbent from getting your vote. In contests where there is no incumbent, there will reliably be a slated/touted party hack, who can be considered as being the same as the incumbent. The State's Attorney's race, in the Democratic Primary, was the exception to the rule, with so many unworthy candidates meeting the criteria for not being elected. This contest also came close to the reality of what the voters will be faced with, albeit heavily overloaded with unworthy candidates, should our political processes evolve into truly open and competitive democracy. Thus, this specific contest is a good example of the challenge the voters face, should they choose to honestly participate in their Democracy, in determining which candidate is, in fact, the best candidate for the public office they are seeking. It's been a long, generational process, this brain washing and programming of the electorate, and it will take some time to clear the minds and hearts of this conditioning. First, clear your own mind and vision, then help others to do so. The only alternative is to remain one of the blind, leading the blind to wherever the one-eyed creatures want them to be led.
I am very cloudly today.
The Electorate. Like the weather, always changing, yet ever the same. And always the environment in which we experience the miracle of life. Politicians are like farmers, albeit managing the opinions of the electorate, like so many plants in their own fields, reaping the rewards of power and wealth when they bring in their harvests. The primary fear of these political farmers is the unpredictability of those who they consider to be 'pests', ie., those living creatures independent and immune to the ways of the cultivators of 'public opinion'. Those would be the individuals whose natures are the stuff that created our country, some few centuries ago, ie., Authentic Americans. Are there enough Authentic Americans left?
Authentic Americans died out in 1955.
And the significance of the year 1955 is???
People became brainwashed in politics.
Not to belabor the point, but, could you be a bit more specific in your analysis on the who, what, where and how of "People became brainwashed in politics."? Without revealing anything which might be construed as being a 'threat to national security'?
Mayor Ritchard J. Daley.
Hugh, why do and others always have to throw trash at Fritchey. HE has done a great job as State Rep and will do same as Committeeman. For the first time, the people in the 32nd have a committeeman who will work with all people not just party hacks. JOhn's vote total shows just how well he'll do anyway.
I was hoping for a more thoughtful elaboration, not necessarily of book length, but a bit more detailed than a few words. Perhaps something containing your thoughts on the natures of the various electorate groupings of those of voting age, circa 1955, and the life experiences each grouping may have had that affected their vulnerability to being 'brainwashed', influenced, manipulated, pandered to, persuaded, convinced and otherwise successfully encouraged not to think for themselves. Perhaps along the lines of which groups of voters, at that time, consisted primarily of individuals who had experienced, first hand, the realities of WW II, either as combatants, or as civilians, and those individuals whose experiences, concerning WW II, did not include first hand experiences, both those who lost family, friends and associates and those who did not. Also, those citizens who were coming of age at that time, ie., those born just prior to the beginnings of WW II, being born during the Great Depression years of the 1930's, yet not having been old enough to either vote or serve during the war years. Further, those who had lived the bulk of their lives here, in Cook County and the City of Chicago, and those who migrated here, whether during the Great Depression or during and after WW II. To understand the effects and effectivenesses of politically targeted propagandas, one must understand the natures and viewpoints of those voters being targeted. To understand the how's and who's and what's and where's and why's of politically motivated 'brain washing', one must begin by understanding the citizen/voters these propaganda techniques are being employed against. While a web blog's comment board may not seem like the likely vehicle for expressing opinions and observations of this sort, it can be a means of stimulating interest and curiosity in same, not merely a place to exchange, as many do, pejoratives, insults, rantings and blatant displays of ignorance. Can't it?
Sure, a web blog can be anything anyone wants. From 1955 onwards, people have been voting for the Daley machine. Those same people later complain about the machine candidates' job performances, but still vote for them.
So, what might the reasons be, for this apparent contradiction between the words, of many, and the subsequent actions, or inactions, of so few or so many? What, exactly, are the beliefs held by those who continue to elect/reelect the very people whose activities are so objected to? What, exactly, are the reasons for, presumably, so many to act, on every election day, so contrary to their own self-interests? As in, what are so many citizens thinking, if, indeed, they are thinking? What do you think?
So, you have no thoughts to share?
