The genuine riddles of change, however, long predate 21st Century elections. As Steeves notes, the pre-Socratic philosopher Heraclitus pointed out that one cannot step in the same river twice; the moment passes, never to return, and all is altered. Change is inevitable.

It's a long-winded way of saying that word is getting beaten to death, but I'll take my defense of the English language where I can get it. Anyway, there's only one prominent American I can think of who truly, literally represents change.
