If you believe, they put a man on the moon

"Obama told his audience that hope made President Kennedy aim to put a man on the moon . . ."

"I mean, can you picture JFK saying: 'We can't go to the moon. It's a false hope. Let's get a reality check'? It's not . . . what our tradition has been."

"Did JFK say, ‘That moon thing, it looks too far?’ No he didn’t."

I'm not sure "We can do anything" is the takeaway lesson of the moon shot. "We can find something expensive and time-consuming for defense contractors to do that doesn't have the purpose of blowing people up," on the other hand, is a campaign meme I can support.
