Reilly, every time that the mayor and the idiots who surround him start objecting to a public official working with their constituents to resolve issues that need to be addressed, it is the mayor and those same idiots who surround him that come out looking like the out of touch and irresponsible people that they are. Don't put any faith that the mayor is going to come up with any alternatives or will be willing to work with you or the residents of the 42nd ward. Just keep doing what you have been doing, working with your constituents and speaking calmly and effectively on their behalf. The old school of politicians are getting the message that they can't rig everything in this city... you're living up to the expectations that voters have of such a capable young man. It doesn't matter what the mayor thinks of you...he'll be gone in a few years and you and your neighbors will have to live for the rest of your lives with the decisions you are making. It is my opinion that the voters made a fine choice.

This Alderman is a fool if he thinks, he can slow growth and progress for our city.

When I ran for alderman in the 46th Ward, very little was asked by the media and numerous organizations about TIFs, and when endorsements were made, one's stance on TIFs appeared to have no bearing, which I find amazing given their effect on taxes. TIFs continue to be non-transparent and the press continues to make little connection between campaign contributions and developers benefiting from TIFs. When they do, perhaps the public will have more of an incentive to wake up and be informed voters.

Ald. Reilly's problem, as far as Richie is concerned, is that Reilly's not rolling over for developers. Richie, of course, needs any new revenue stream (e.g., increased assessments on newly-developed property) he can get, since hired trucks, the Duffs, etc., don't come cheap. Municipal corruption is costing us a great deal, folks, and it's almost exclusively Richie's fault at this point. As an aside, I note that very nearly everyone who posts comments in defense of Richie makes the same punctuation and grammar errors, especially with respect to the misuse of commas.
