Tonight at Words + Music, independent publishing company Curbside Splendor celebrates the release of its spring titles, Tim Kinsella's Let Go and Go On and On and Megan Stielstra's Once I Was Cool among them. The local writers will be joined by Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh and artist Tony Fitzpatrick, with music from the Walking Bicycles and More Gorgeous at the Empty Bottle.
Everything Is Terrible!, the experimental found-footage film collective, screens the feature Doggie Woggiez! Poochie Woochiez! (2012) and a remake of Alejandro Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain featuring a canine cast. It's all happening tonight at the Gene Siskel Film Center.
Check out Argentine singer-songwriter Juana Molina tonight at the Old Town School of Folk Music's Maurer Hall. In Soundboard Peter Margasak writes, "gentle acoustic guitar arpeggios in seductive yin-yang blends help frame Molina’s tender, matter-of-fact singing, and when a beat does kick in, it strengthens the song’s mesmerizing power instead of hijacking its direction."
