Remember Meal Sharing
? The locally launched social networking site that connects travelers with native hosts willing to serve them home-cooked meals? They're launching a "Thanksharing initiative" aiming to connect dinner hosts with wayward guests unable to make it home for the holiday. Founder Jay Savsani says they have some 50 cooks prepared to bring in a stranger for dinner. You can find turkey and stuffing (or something) in Sao Paulo, Louisville, Madrid, Bangkok, or Hyderabad, but most hosts are based in Chicago. Savsani, who lives in Naperville, is hosting a vegetarian expat from India. He has a veggie lasagna on the menu and is thinking about springing for a Tofurky, but as everyone knows, "those are pretty awful."
