Looking for something to do today? Agenda's got you covered.

A group show curated by artist and SAIC professor Michelle Grabner, "A Study in Midwest Appropriation" explores the appropriation-based styles of Aaron Van Dyke and other artists from Chicago and elsewhere in flyover country. One of our visual arts recommendations for fall.

Family, friends, and colleagues of Bernie Sahlins gather tonight to celebrate the life of the Second City founder and SCTV cocreator, who died back in June. The evening will feature speeches, stories, and performances.

Set on a single park bench, First Class explores the oscillating lives of two friends with ties to New York City gangs. The Reader's Suzanne Scanlon says actors Hank Hilbert and Ivan Vega "move expertly from comedy to agony, taking on physical and emotional journeys that are, at times, difficult to witness."
