As reported in Gossip Wolf, last week excellent Chicago jazz drummer Frank Rosaly had his car, loaded with pricey cymbals, drum hardware, and various other percussion devices, stolen from near his Ukrainian Village home. The column also mentioned a benefit show organized by fellow drummer Adam Vida this Friday at Experimental Sound Studio, with a suggested donation of ten dollars or more. At press time the list of musicians banding together to help their colleague and collaborator couldn't be confirmed, but now the impressive lineup is solid: pianist Jim Baker, cornetist Josh Berman, guitarist Matthew Hale Clark, clarinetist James Falzone, bass clarinetists Jason Stein and Jeff Kimmel, and reedists Ken Vandermark and Mars Williams.

Yesterday the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation offered to match the first $1,000 of contributions to Rosaly. The drummer is also preparing some hand-packaged CD-Rs of a solo performance he gave at ESS in 2010, which he'll be selling on Friday. Those wanting to help but unable to attend Friday's event can contribute though Paypal.
