Right now the South Loop's Florodora and Florodora Shoes are having the annual Scandal Sale, with prices up to 50 percent off. Examples include a printed silk dress by local designer Anastasia Chatzka that was $385 and is now $192.50 and suede slingbacks by Chie Mihara that were $358 and have been marked down to $155.98. They're at 330 and 348 S. Dearborn.

Get up bright and early to score the biggest discounts at Krista K's Shop Around the Clock Sale. From 8 to 9 AM, sale merch is an additional 50 percent off, and the discounts go down every hour after until noon, when savings freeze at 20 percent off. You can also get 20 percent off regularly priced stuff all day. The boutique is at 3458 N. Southport.

Also on Saturday, test your Italian-style lawn bowling skills at the Warby Parker Bocce Social. Besides a chance to clank some balls together, the Web-based eyewear retailer is offering drinks and of course a pop-up shop. It's from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at 1537 N. Damen (next to Big Star).

Sunday, aspiring fashion designers can line up for a chance to impress the casting agents of the NBC reality show Fashion Star at an open call. Bring two to ten original ready-to-wear pieces and your portfolio, and make sure you can clear your calendar for six weeks starting in mid-September. It's from noon to 5 PM at Macy's, 111 N. State.

Finally, stroll and shop at this weekend's sidewalk sales in Bucktown/Wicker Park and around Armitage, Webster, and Halsted in Lincoln Park.
