12 O'Clock Track / Music 12 O'Clock Track: Pinkish Black, "Everything Went Dark"

Fort Worth duo Pinkish Black plays gothic synth doom that's more bloody knuckles than black eyeliner. Vocalist and keyboardist Daron Beck and drummer Jon Teague previously played in a band called the Great Tyrant with bassist Tommy Atkins; when Atkins killed himself in February 2010, the surviving members became Pinkish Black.
I like these guys because it seems that most of what passes for goth music these days is either spectral and ethereal or stiff, chilly, and reserved. I remember how deranged and feral Bauhaus sounded on In the Flat Field, and it's nice to hear brand-new goth with some sweat and sinew in it.
Today's 12 O'Clock Track is from the self-titled Pinkish Black LP released by Handmade Birds last month.
