The 40th anniversary of the Watergate break-in has turned out to be surprisingly contentious. Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein probably wish they could bask nostalgically in the afterglow of their Pulitzer-winning Watergate coverage for the Washington Post, but they're not being allowed to.

Instead, some serious revisionism is going down. Max Holland came out with Leak, a book that knocks Deep Throat down several pegs, from gallant defender of democracy to underhanded, double-dealing FBI bureaucrat. Here's Holland in the Daily Beast on Woodstein and Watergate.

And here's a savvy blog that cites Holland and asserts that "when it comes to the Watergate scandal, the Washington Post has some explaining to do."

I don't know how much explaining we can expect from him, but Bob Woodward is talking about Watergate Wednesday evening at the Newseum in Washington DC. He's being streamed live and you can watch him here.
