This week's food and drink events, from Bulls schmoozing to truffle making

Learn about and sip more than 100 Austrian wines at Austria Uncorked, plus sample food from local restaurants including Austrian Bakery and Deli, Porkchop, and Vivo. Taste the weisse beer Hacker-Pschorr for free at Cactus Bar and Grill, and receive a free weisse glass with the purchase of a pint. Brunch spot 2 Sparrows hosts a cocktail dinner with Evanston's Few Spirits. Gin, bourbon, and whiskey drinks complement the four courses: pickled ramp salad, stuffed quail, pappardelle with lamb bolognese, and vanilla-infused waffle for dessert. Following last year's E-Dogz Mobile Culinary Community Center happening, E 2 Tha Z 2 features bites and beers from the mobile trailer collaboration between chefs Eric May and Jonathan Zaragoza. 5-7 PM, outside the Roots and Culture Contemporary Arts Center, 1034 N. Milwaukee, $3 a ticket or $5 for two.

Design your own hand-rolled truffles, sample chocolates, create ganache, eat appetizers, and drink wine at a pop-up at Katherine Anne Confections'. Reservations required. 2 PM, Katherine Anne Confections, 2745 W. Armitage, $50.


Sunday22

At the 16th annual Girl Food Dinner five female chefs, including Priscila Satkoff of Salpicon, create courses to benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Featured: smoked sable fish, walleye pike, stuffed-capon breast, grilled Asian skirt steak, and lemon custard cake with olive oil-thyme gelato. Chef Gale Gand takes control of Hearty's kitchen for Sunday brunch, re-creating dishes from her 2009 cookbook Chef Gale Gand's Brunch! 100 Fantastic Recipes for the Weekend's Best Meal. Marigold and 5 Rabbit Brewery host a roving dinner including duck confit naanwiches paired with 5 Rabbit Vulture and crispy lamb belly vindaloo with 5 Rabbit Huitzi Midwinter Ale. 5 Rabbit's three owners will be in attendance. The latest installment of Spotlight Chef offers an opportunity to check out the yet-to-open Argent Restaurant and Raw Bar.
