Even if you haven't seen The Interrupters, Steve James and Alex Kotlowitz's documentary about epidemic violence on the streets of Chicago and its experimental antidote, you've probably seen and heard Ameena Matthews talking about it. The charismatic trouble-buster in a hijab has been all over the national media as the face and voice of the effort, which is the brainchild of Chicago immunologist Gary Slutkin. (Here's our story about that, and here's Andrea Gronvall's Reader review.) Catch the film (also out today on DVD) at 8 PM tonight, on PBS's Frontline.
