Burger Records somehow managed to get the Tough Shits to pull it together long enough to record a self-titled album, and you can preorder the vinyl here. Judging by what I heard when my band played with them in November—and by the sample track, "Cats & Dogs," which you can hear after the jump—it's gonna be one of the best collections of jangly guitar pop to come out in 2012.

If the Though Shits comp (http://grooveshark.com/album/Prick+Up+Your+Ears+Complete+Tough+Shits+07+08/3963888) was available in some buyable format, I would have given thema a bunch of cash over the last few years buying it for friends. Sadly, the "pile of bricks" comment is spot on.
I once convinced an employer to underwrite a trip to DC so I could see them. The banter between songs was so perfect that, if I hadn't known better, I would have sworn it was rehearsed. They talked shit and tossed around inside jokes like the audience wasn't there. At the last second, every time I was sure it was going to devolve into something like a wrestling match between five 90-pound brothers, the drummer would count off and they'd launch into my new favorite song. Without any affectation, they naturally walk that line between polished, technically proficient pop and punk indifference that most of the recently successful garage acts seem to be aiming for. I hope the timing is right for this record, though these boneheads likely won't tour to support it.
I clicked through just to make sure that Sean had posted a comment. He's been repping these dudes since I met him.
