With Academy Award nominations a mere two weeks away, I figured it was apropos to revisit one of my favorite bits from Patton Oswalt's 2007 album, Werewolves and Lollipops. Buried deep in his set, "Death Bed" waxes poetic about the production and plot of the 1977 horror mess, Death Bed: The Bed That Eats, written and directed by George Barry—Oswalt actually refers to the movie as "Death Bed: The Bed That Eats People," which, really, would have been a better title.

For some reason, I've never scoured the YouTube universe for clips of Death Bed, but I'm fixing that right now. After the jump, listen to Oswalt's bit and then check out scenes of a bed that enjoys some fried chicken, a slurp or two of wine, and devouring human flesh:

Patton Oswalt is a comedian, and he loves Schwa.

If you jab a gun forward without pulling the trigger, it'll fire every time.

This is a longer version of the previous clip's ending, but stick through it so you can see what becomes of the dude's hands.

Unsurprisingly, the yellow ooze enjoys fried chicken and wine. Sorry, but this clip cuts off right before the nudity.

Of course all of the scenes are ridiculous and hokey and sad, but I'd rather watch this with a group of friends over War Horse any day of the week.

The DVD of this gem is out of stock on Amazon at the moment. Keep checking back.
