RIP restaurants—including, alas, Gaztro-Wagon

New Year’s Eve was the last night for Seasons and for Evanston’s Jacky’s on Prairie, both of which will be reopening in different form next year—Seasons as something more casual and contemporary; Jacky’s as Hota, which will offer an eclectic global menu with an emphasis on sustainability. Now One SixtyBlue will be joining them in "reconcepting." Its last night of service was Saturday.

The big news last week was that Charlie Trotter will be closing his restaurant in August.

And there are more closings, per LTHForum, among them Evanston's Merle's #1 Barbecue and, after a yearlong run, Tiny Dog Cupcake.

But the place I'll miss dearly is Gaztro-Wagon, Matt Maroni's Edgewater storefront that supplied his food truck with his delicious creations. The Tribune reports that @WhereztheWagon will be back in April, but I've never been lucky enough to encounter his truck. Also according to the Trib, Maroni will stay on at MorSo, the Lincoln Park restaurant he opened last fall, but in more of a consulting capacity.
