Annals of employment: Mike Sula reported earlier today on the departure of everybody's favorite bartender, Paul McGee, from the Whistler, and now comes news that Alison Cuddy is out as host of WBEZ's morning program Eight Forty-Eight. Cuddy's moving on to a job as arts and culture reporter for the station. The shift is part of a larger reorganization plan for midday programming, with the ultimate goal to have strictly Chicago-produced content on air between 9 AM and 4 PM. Tony Sarabia fills in as interim host until WBEZ finds a replacement for Cuddy. Other changes: Justin Kaufmann was recently promoted to Midday Executive Producer; he'll oversee, among other things, a new afternoon show hosted by Steve Edwards. For more, see the press release from WBEZ (PDF) and this article from Crain's.

Um, didn't they used to have a bunch of local programming at WBEZ, and Malatia canned all of hosts? I seem to remember Aaron Freeman, Andrew Patner, and about half of their news staff...

Sadly, this doesn't mean they will dump the terrible CBC programming that they run in the evening.
