About Metz again, just because

In October I previewed a pair of shows by relatively unknown postpunk/hardcore trio Metz. There were only about eight people at Permanent Records' early show, but the Toronto dudes wailed and sweated through a set of absolute loudness whose volume was magnified by the narrow corridor the band was crammed into. (Permanent's space definitely isn't built for decibel levels like that.) And I heard the Burlington show later that night was even better.

Last I talked with bassist Chris Slorach, Metz had recorded their debut album and were shopping it around. Right now the best way to hear their music is Bandcamp, though I'm told "Wet Blanket" is the only song posted that's going to show up on the album. (They were playing strictly new material when they rolled through town.)

The record should be dropping this year, and I recommend staying on high alert for it. In the meantime, here's "Wet Blanket" for your listening pleasure:
