But when you're in the agit-prop business, you can't afford to sit around waiting for people to connect the dots themselves. The Occupy Players have therefore put together Occupy My Heart: A Revolutionary Christmas Carol—a new, 60-minute, "family-friendly" play that explicitly updates the Scrooge story for our stratified times. It's the tale of Josh, "an ambitious Chicago banker" with a hard heart. Visited by the "three Occupy spirits," he gets a glimpse of "that other world . . . of hope and decency and dignity for all." The question, I suppose, is whether decency trumps saving up to buy that private island?
Occupy My Heart had a couple performances over the weekend; now it's getting its final run for the season at Studio BE, 3110 N. Sheffield. See it—for free, of course—tonight through Thu 12/29, 8 PM. "Above all," says the promo blurb, "this is a story of the 99%, for the 99% and by the 99%."
