On Tuesday Chris Nugent, executive chef at Les Nomades
from 2005 until the fall of this year, opened Goosefoot
in Lincoln Square, where he’ll be offering seasonally-based, market-driven, eight-course tasting menus ($90), with 12-course menus to debut next year. According to the bio
on the restaurant's website
, Nugent, whose mother died when he was 11, was moved to strike out on his own after his brother died in 2009: he “made a promise he would not waste another day cooking unless it was food with great culinary vision and artistry. ‘Each day we are given is a blessing,’” he said.
The sleek contemporary restaurant is BYO; reservations are required—but there are still a few spots open for New Year's Eve. Nugent's current winter menu is here.
