Holiday shopping events and sales

Posted By on 12.01.11 at 12:00 PM

Start crossing off your gift list at holiday-themed shopping 'dos and sales this weekend.

Today, stop by the Chicago Culture Center, 77 E. Randolph, from 11 AM to 6 PM for Glitter, which features goods from local designers and boutiques. Participants include Kristin Hassan (women's clothing), Haute and Soul (earrings), and Entourage Man (menswear). It's on the third floor of the Cultural Center, in Preston Bradley Hall.

More after the jump.

Tonight, local designer Abigail Glaum-Lathbury of Elmidae holds a holiday party and gift event from 5 to 9 PM at her studio, 1457 N. Wood. She'll also host an open studio Friday and Saturday from noon to 8 PM.

Downtown, there's a holiday party at Karen Millen (900 N. Michigan, third floor) featuring styling assistance from the women behind the Style Block blog. All purchases from the boutique are 20 percent off. It's from 6 to 8 PM.

Friday brings the 16th annual Southport Stroll, which offers carolers, sleigh rides, and an appearance by Santa. Area boutiques offering deals include Tula, 3738 N. Southport, which is offering 20 percent off all day. The stroll is from 6 to 8 PM between Belmont and Irving Park.

Saturday and Sunday, the Pulaski Park field house (1419 W. Blackhawk) is the site of the sixth annual Renegade Craft Fair Holiday Market. This year more than 150 crafters are crammed into its confines. There's also a DIY Gift Wrap Workshop and a trolley to help ease parking woes. It's open from 11 AM to 6 PM both days.

On Sunday there's another Dose Market at the River East Art Center, 435 E. Illinois. HoliDose participants include Agga B., Evanston's Chalk Boutique, and menswear line Fresh & Proper.

Finally, it's not a holiday sale per se, but still very popular: Robin Richman is offering selected items for 30 to 75 percent off right now.
