If you haven't been able to score tickets to Next's current incarnation, Childhood, you might want to treat yourself to the underground supper club X-marx's pop-up dinner at Hot Chocolate next Monday. It's a six-plus-course meal prepared by X-marx executive chef Abraham Conlon, a CIA grad, and Hot Chocolate pastry sous chef Rachel Slivicki; Hot Chocolate mixologist Luke LeFiles will craft the cocktail pairings. Menu items include beans and escarole with Benton's ham, kuri squash potage with garam masala, ballotine of quail with wild rice and bourbon, rainbow trout with johnnycakes and country bacon, and cast-iron cobbler with chestnut ice cream. It's $75, with seatings on the hour from 6 to 10 PM; tickets are available at mhc.eventbrite.com or by calling 773-600-1771.
Matt Maroni of MorSo has introduced a new “off-the-cuff” menu, a chef’s-choice multiple-course meal served family style. It’s available Tuesday through Thursday nights for $32. That's off-menu unless otherwise requested, but his new fall menu includes dishes like raw swordfish with butternut squash and ricotta hazelnuts, roasted antelope with a stuffed Anaheim chile and cumined squash puree, and smoked trout with fingerling potatoes, celery, and steelhead roe. Also on Tuesdays through Thursdays: $22 carafes of Choo Lipsky's classic cocktails, each yielding four servings.
