John Herndon continues to be amazing

You probably know John "Johnny Machine" Herndon as the drummer from Tortoise. You maybe know him as the drummer for like several hundred other musical projects. If you're lucky you've maybe experienced one of his magnificent, genre-blind DJ sets. And apparently if you're really lucky you may have had him give you a completely insane and mindblowingly weird tattoo. Over brunch beers this weekend Gossip Wolf scribe J.R. Nelson pointed me in the direction of Herndon's blog, French Fried Eyeballs, which serves as a showcase of his idiosyncratic visual art, including his recent expansion into tattooing. I plan on getting one as soon as possible. Maybe the inside-jokey mashup of Archer Prewitt's Sof' Boy and the classic "Keep on Truckin'" design?

He's one of the reasons that Poster Children's "Tool of the Man" was my favorite record of the 90's.

Totally agree re: Tool of the Man. His drumming is sh*t hot on that record. I wish it would get issued on LP.
