On Wednesday, November 2, the lineup includes pianist Hans Peter Pfammatter (Switzerland), saxophonist Gerard Lebik (Poland), trumpeter Franz Hautzinger (Austria), pianist Sophia Domancich (France), and reedist Ab Baars (Netherlands). The lineup the following evening features saxophonist Jan Maksimowicz (Lithuania), drummer Ramon Lopez (Spain), saxophonist Francesco Bigoni (Italy), pianist Sten Sandell (Sweden), and trumpeter Thomas Heberer (Germany).
For the remaining three days, the fest presents a strong mix of Chicago groups and touring heavies at the three primary venues that make up Umbrella Music. On Friday, November 4, Elastic presents the Nick Mazzarella Trio (with bassist Anton Hatwich and drummer Frank Rosaly), British reedist John Butcher (solo), and reedist Tim Berne (leading a trio with drummer Ches Smith and bassist Devin Hoff). Saturday night's show at the Hideout opens with a set by bass clarinetist Jason Stein with his trio Locksmith Isidore (bassist Jason Roebke and New York drummer Mike Pride), followed by a duo set by drummer Mike Reed and guitarist Jeff Parker, then a headlining performance by the Marshall Allen/Odean Pope Quartet. The fest closes Sunday night at the Hungry Brain with a rare solo set by drummer Matt Wilson and the local debut of the quintet led by guitarist Mary Halvorson (with trumpeter Jonathan Finlayson, reedist Jon Irabagon, bassist John Hebert, and drummer Ches Smith).
