The Vanishing

  • All month, The Logan Square International Film Series is screening "amazing foreign films remade into American films," starting with George Sluizer's eminently creepy 1988 Dutch psychological abduction thriller The Vanishing, which Sluizer adapted with Tim Krabbe from Krabbe's novel The Golden Egg. Sluizer himself went on to direct the much less acclaimed 1993 remake featuring Jeff Bridges, Kiefer Sutherland and Sandra Bullock.

LSIFS has moved out of founder Peter Kaplan's apartment and into the Comfort Station, the former inn turned lawnmower storage and now multi-arts center across Milwaukee Avenue from the Illinois Centennial Monument.

The Vanishing screens Tuesday 7/5 at 8 PM at 2579 N. Milwaukee Ave. Donations welcome. RSVP here.

Next up: La Femme Nikita 7/12, Wings of Desire 7/19, and Shall We Dance? 7/26.
