Pitchfork Music Festival Adds Some Local Flavor

Posted by Miles Raymer on 03.25.11 at 02:13 PM

The Pitchfork Music Festival just made its second lineup announcement, including the first Chicago acts to be confirmed: former Sharp Darts subjects Chrissy Murderbot and How to Dress Well. Gossip Wolf's prediction that Shabazz Palaces and Gang Gang Dance would show up on the bill turned out to be on the money, but we're still waiting on news regarding Helium/Sleater-Kinney/Minders supergroup Wild Flag (currently cruising on a ton of SXSW buzz). Unretired lo-fi gods Guided by Voices, middlebrow chanteuse Neko Case, and fuzz-punk outfit No Age (who just pissed off a bunch of NYC frat boys with an ambient noise set) are among the other new additions.

Chrissy Murderbot has an album, Women's Studies, set to drop this spring on Chicagophilic British dance label Planet Mu, which has been issuing records by local footwork producers like crazy. Murderbot recently debuted the video for his own footwork-laced single "Bussin' Down." It's after the jump, along with the full Pitchfork lineup as it currently stands.

"middlebrow chanteuse Neko Case"

Y'wanna elaborate on that? Would like to know what makes her "middlebrow". And yeah, I'd ask the same question if you had called her either "highbrow" or "lowbrow".

I would like to second Middlebrow Cyclone's inquiry and add "WTF?!?"

No Age is by far the best addition, though why they have to sit behind The Dismemberment Plan, and Fleet Foxes is beyond me.

A few greeat bands but on the whole, a weak year so far.

Sounds like Neko's too successful for the elitist Rock Snob Rayner, who hates success and worships failure as much as he loves Communism and hates ordinary people who work for a living and America.

Nice to see the phony right-wing troll again.

I'm not sure, FGFM. I suspect that he's a *genuine* right-wing troll.
