Chicago Magazine has a great article by Beth Wilson about the rise and fall and rise again (maybe) of Lance Lawson and Jim Wetzel, the owners of the erstwhile high-end boutique Jake. If you're just tuning in, the team stopped paying designers when they ran into financial trouble in 2008 and 2009, earning them an article in the New York Times and the enmity of many in the local and national fashion scene. The duo's new store, space519, is an attempt to turn over a new leaf, but clearly many designers are not willing to forgive and forget.
