Usually the phrase "hand-painted clothing" brings to mind the hippie-wear sold at art festivals. But the painted clothing created by local artist Sarah McLaughlin, who reworks vintage pieces by altering, dyeing, and painting them, combines fashion with the cool factor of a graphic T-shirt. On Friday night East Ukrainian Village vintage store Dovetail Chicago, 1452 W. Chicago, hosts a party for McLaughlin to showcase her clothing as well as striking pieces from her jewelry line, Shikama. The event, which features discounts of 20 to 50 percent on selected merchandise, runs from 8 to 11 PM.
