This is an exceptional week to dive back into the action, with a load of Empty Bottle on-sales (the Dutchess & the Duke, Dengue Fever, Quintron & Miss Pussycat, Greg Laswell) and the first of the season's great outdoor arena/amphitheater megashows, whose perverse lineups and colossal egos simply can't be contained by buildings with roofs.
On top of that the schedule for Millennium Park's Downtown Sound series, which wasn't supposed to go public till Tuesday, was leaked yesterday Tuesday by Jim DeRogatis. The ambitious series of free Monday-evening concerts features the Besnard Lakes, Hum, She & Him, Tony Allen, the Books, Caribou, and others.

Looks like there's gonna be some Chaos In Tejas related tours heading up here soon. Slang (hardcore punk from Japan) and Mind Eraser (powerviolence from Boston) are heading up here on June 4th. Most likely that's gonna be a basement show. Quintron & Miss Pussycat are playing Chaos In Tejas on the same weekend as Maryland Death Fest. If Chaos wasn't the same weekend as MDF, it would be a killer reason to go to Austin after SXSW.
