Martin + Osa, owned by American Eagle Outfitters Inc., will soon be no more. If you're wondering what the hell that is, you probably never shop at Old Orchard or Woodfield Mall, the only two Chicago-area locations of this J. Crew-esque retail concept. WWD reports [subscription required] that it "failed to gain traction" after launching four years ago. No kidding.

As for J. Crew, it posted a $40 million profit in its fourth quarter.

This concept store never stood a chance. It was a weak "also-ran" whose customer service was non-existant. Wall Street rejoiced at the announcement of this closing and then Sony hired Steve Krajenka to do for them what he did for American Eagle? It is clear that the M+O management team lacked intellictual horsepower and integrity and were in no way ready to compete in the real world.

Steve Krajenka has left Sony after being instrumental in the downfall of the retail stores. Now he will begin looking for the next company to screw with. It took them long enough to figure out that he was all show and no talent. Good Riddance!
