Our Video Game Heritage

Posted by Whet Moser on 02.16.10 at 01:25 PM

Neat: UIUC prof Jerome McDonough* is heading up a project to preserve video games, interactive fiction, and other interactive media: Preserving Virtual Worlds. The site's really interesting: it's got a blog and a fascinating reading list on interactive-media preservation.

Speaking of games, this post on Mollieindustria's Every Day the Same Dream is a nice lament on the Web we once had (via @maudnewton).

*Areas of expertise: "Digital libraries; digital preservation; metadata design; human-computer interaction and user interface design; socio-technical and participatory design approaches to information systems development"
