It's sad, sports columnist Bernie Lincicome turning out to be a reluctant blogger. As I wrote the other day, he tried blogging in Denver and concluded it was mere "calisthenics," an exercise in the delusion that someone notices and cares.
If he'd just loosen up a little, there's so much Internet opportunity in Chicago for an elegant stylist like Lincicome. For instance, Chicago Now, the blogging meat market run by his old paper, the Tribune, is a sizzling place. Sports blogger CubbieJulie is already in place and she's having a ball under the Tribune imprimatur.
Why wouldn't Lincicome want to be her sidekick?

Same here. From the screaming headline to the vacuous content, it is not what I would call good company for Bernie Lincicome. Sometimes, Mr. Miner--not often, but sometimes--you whiff in a way that makes me think you are starting to lose your stuff.
On second thought, that may be the point of the whole post, link included. It seems to be saying that Bernie should abandon his high style and get down in the pits with Julie.
Maybe so. But sarcasm is not a dish that Mr. Miner usually serves. And if sarcasm was the point of the piece, what does he have to be bitter about? Mr. Miner is one of the two or three best writers in town. If Bernie came back, he might fall a notch, to one of the best three or four. Granted, the whole thing was a joke, but that doesn't mean it was funny.
My goodness. This could probably go on for another dozen replies before Enginist understands Michael Miner's simple point.
Enginist ruined the whole post. Nice job.
As for ChicagoNow -- yikes! Embarrassing. Makes Chicago bloggers look like a bunch of yokels.
Enginist, Miner's point is that Bernie is a great writer that is looking for a gig in Chicago again. He wrote this a week or so ago. The Tribune, his old home that is short a columnist, has shown no outward desire to have him back in the fold. Instead they publicly flog the insipid ChicagoNow site and horrible, embarrassing "writers" like the one he links to.
